Bulger looking at the Panthers

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

have you noticed all these loser qb's want to play for us??? I thinks it's cuz they see how we stood by jake when he was horrible and they look at it like job security

hmmmm wrong

they look at us as a team who clearly wants a veteran quarterback as a backup behind a promising young quarterback-of-the-future

You can cite the bad line he played behind all you want...the guy was never as good as the praise he got. At this point in his career, he is damaged goods.

No to the bullshit mentorship. First of all..jake and vinny mentored him. He is now the starter...the mentoring part is over! Yes we need a backup...but please..stop throwing names out there. Bulger is done in this league.

Exactly. I dont care about another version of Jake Delhomme.

The whole mentoring thing is being blown way out of proportion by our fan base. And like you said Moore was here when Jake and Vinny was (you can throw in McCown too). Not every young QB needs someone older to hold thier hand 24/7. Just look at Flacco. People act like Moore can't do sh*t on his own.

I am glad some are seeing it the way I am seeing it... How much more mentoring does Moore neeed?

Let's put it this way...

If you were about to land a 747 for the first time, who would you like to have sitting next to you talking you through it?

A guy who's read about it and knows the proper techniques (from the books, anyway)

or...

A guy who'd actually done it successfully a time or two.

Same question, if you were going into combat. Do you want the guy who graduated top of his class from officer's school, or do you want the guy who's been in a bunch of firefights in his past only to came out alive and kicking every time?

Yet another example: Most of the folks reading this probably have a supervisor at their place of employment. Has your supervisor ever done your job? Would you feel better knowing they had? Do you ever have problems with expectations owing to the fact that they haven't?

Rip Scherer can teach him all the techniques, but he's never been a quarterback at the pro level. He doesn't know what it feels like. He's never experienced the pressure involved. Never stared down a 330 pound defensive tackle barreling at him with bad intentions in his eyes while still trying to remember the next progression in the passing tree.

Brentson Buckner has talked often about how he learned as much or more from vets ahead of him as he did from coaches. This year, we'll be fielding a team that's relatively short on veteran experience. Thus, if we're only going to have that at one or two spots, I want the hardest position on the field to be one of those spots.

SORRY- But we WILL draft a QB and THEN get a vet after the draft...

Dont forget, after the draft a lot of players cut because of someone is drafted to replace them...

dont forget- the last UNDRAFTED QB to win a superbowl that I can remeber is Kurt Warner....

Guys like that dont come too often.

I like Matt Moore, but I dont have faith in him to win us a super bowl because he can win 4 games....

you seem a bit confused...

matt moore is an undrafted QB, correct? forget about faith, he's the future of our team, end of story.

The training wheels are off now mr scot. Don't be scared.

Not being scared. Just practical.

Three years mostly on the bench and eight games as a starter isn't enough to call someone "seasoned" yet. There's still plenty to learn and plenty of situations Moore has yet to face.

I want someone on the sidelines who's been there.

Yeah but I could argue that if three seasons on the bench, learning behind guys like Jake and Vinny isn't enough then I don't know what is.

Again I ask, how much more mentoring does Moore need? If the last 8 games hasn't proved anything then what is the point of starting him?

I wouldn't argue with the fact that we should bring in a vet to back him up in case of emergency but to bring someone in to "mentor" him, I just don't agree with.
