Bulger looking at the Panthers

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Len Pasquarelli reported that people in Marc Bulger's camp have been talking up the Panthers offensive line. Playing for a team that has a solid O-Line would likely be important for Bulger, given his recent experience.

Keep in mind, this does not mean the Panthers are looking at Bulger. It's more of a way of him saying, "hey, if you guys are interested, I'd like to play there". No word on whether the feeling is mutual. And, as Florio points out in his PFT mention of this (link) there probably won't be until after the draft.

Even if the Panthers draft a QB in the later rounds - which is no lock - I'd still expect a vet signing. The draft is more likely to affect Hunter Cantwell's status than it is the backup position.

I'm wondering if it is Bulger that people are not interested in or a veteran QB at all? I'm not all that high on Bulger, but I would be a LOT more comfortable with a veteran QB on our roster. This is not and probably won't be the last time I state I'm not as sold on Moore as many of you are. I understand having faith in memebers of this team, but a solid plan 'B' wouldn't hurt.

Besides Campbell, Bulger, Vick are there any other quarterbacks that have said they like or want to come to Carolina?

Out of these three I would take any, not based on their personal life but purely based on their ATHLETIC ABILITY {--> Mike Vick <--}.

However, I honestly agree with the coaching staff in this situation. I think this year and the next will remind many of the 2OO2 and 2OO3 season. The Panthers did not sign anyone of significance in the 2OO2 season, but they did have a very good draft which included Julius Peppers, Will Witherspoon, Dante Wesley, and DeShaun Foster. I expect the Panthers 2O1O draft to exceed this though. The Panthers finished 7-9 that season.

Now on to 2OO3 after previously not signing anyone in the 2OO2 season the Panthers went out and signed Jake Delhomme, Stephen Davis, Ricky Proehl, Travares Tillman, Greg Favors, Kevin Dyson, Kavika Pittman, Doug Brzezinski, Shane Burton, Mike Caldwell, Matt Willig, Kemp Rasmussen, Marco Battaglia, and William Hampton........ Well long story short we went to the Super Bowl that year and things are looking strangely the same as those two year.

bulger seems to pick his target even before the play begins. he locks his eyes on a receiver and doesn't flinch 'til he throws it to him. many times i've seen him throw it to the only guy on the field who's double covered. then again, he has had some productive years, so i don't know. he can be deadly accurate at times.
