I suspect he will have to play center sooner that we think.

I also said we should have drafted a center. Again, what do I know? It pains me to see as a casual observer, with no formal football scouting training, the blatantly obvious moves this team should make and they end up going completely in a different direction.

It appears Dan is counting on having a little luck to get him by with the center position this season.

That or waiting to final cuts to bring in/trade for an actual center.  I chuckled when I frist found out that Corbett was going to be our center this season.  If healthy, he'll probably do the best he can, but surely he will be the weak link in the OL.

It's seems he already is with all the bad snaps I keep hearing about. I'm telling you this will not go well if the offensive line hasn't improved. But that's secondary to the qb play.   Coaching is a big concern of mine.

We have been outsmarting ourselves for years.

Traded back twice.  First with the Rams; swapped second rounders and picked up a 3rd and 6th. Then traded back a little more in the second with Cleveland get a second in 2025 (which we lack).  Still had a very solid draft.

A typical mock.  Players would change, but the position groups remained fairly consistent.   Going back quickly through that mock thread Just about everyone took a center.

Looking at the draft results should make you feel a little better. Half of those guys went earlier than you drafted them and the other half went later. Speaking specifically to the center position, Bortolini went #117. The centers available at #166 were Dylan McMahon (#190), Beaux Limmer (#217), Nick Samac (#228), Michael Jurgens (#230), Matt Lee (#237), and Nick Gargiulo (#256).

The team ended up bringing in Andrew Raym as an undrafted free agent.

Brugler's center rankings:

  • 1. Graham Barton
  • 2. JPJ
  • 3. Zach Frazier
  • 4. Tanor Bortolini
  • 5. Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
  • 6. Beaux Limmer
  • 7. Hunter Nourzad
  • 8. Kingsley Eguakun
  • 9. Matt Lee
  • 10. Jacob Monk
  • 11. Dylan McMahon
  • 12. Andrew Raym
  • 13. Charles Turner III
  • 14. Nick Samac
  • 15. Drake Nugent
  • 16. Jalen Sundell

Some mocked Frazier as the top pick even over a WR.  The point being, center was a glaring need and we decided to move a injury prone RG who has never played center as our 'fix'.  The fan base was all over taking a center.  FYI, usually on 5-6 centers get taken in a typical draft.  Raym at #12 is beyond camp fodder.
