Our Picks According to PFT

Recommended Posts

I think the QB thing is getting a little ridiculous...matt Moore is 25 and needs a veteren presence behind him, not some rookie QB. The FO hasn't selected a QB since la-whatever from louisville. I just don't see it happening. They will eventually sign a veteren QB and develope cantwell. I think it's honestly all the pundits guessing...like when they have us drafting a receiving tight end in nearly every mock draft over the last 5 years.

As for gilyard I just don't like him in the second round...their are a handful if guys I like way better and that list starts with Taylor price. I just don't want gilyard in the second...it would be a huge reach based on need.

if gilyard falls to our pick i'd be the happiest panther alive. i've seen video of him making some pretty tough catches, one handed stuff and the like. and, once he gets the ball it's over. his change of direction, vision, and elusiveness is unmatched in the wide receiver pool of draft choices. we have plenty of smaller defensive tackles. i don't see why we need jones.

Mardy Gilyard = Keary Colbert

I think he's a little shiftier but not worthy of our 2nd round pick. If Gilyard is our best option I'd rather take a DT and then try to take Price in the 3rd. At least he has great straight line speed that can develop into something special.

whatever, gilyard is the next desean jackson, and we'd be idiots to pass on him. he's definitely no keary colbert. you can compare their highlight reels and you'll see the difference. gilyard knows how to catch the ball, and he knows how to get down field. some of you people just completely surprise me sometimes.

Why take a QB at all if you're going to wait until that late in the draft and you already have Hunter Cantwell? (yes, I've heard of a guy named Tom Brady)

Because this years QB class sucks.

You may have heard of Tom Brady, but have you heard of these guys...

Matt Schaub/ Texans starter/ Round 3

David Garrard/ Jaguars starter/ Round 4

Kyle Orton/ Broncos starter/ Round 4

A.J. Feeley/ Rams starter/ Round 5

Matt Hasselbeck/ Seahawks starter/ Round 6

Bruce Gradkowski/ Raiders starter/ Round 6

Matt Cassel/ Chiefs starter/ Round 7

Ryan Fitzpatrick/ Bills starter/ Round 7

Kurt Warner/ Former Cardinals starter/ Undrafted

Tony Romo/ Cowboys starter/ Undrafted

Matt Moore/ Panthers starter/ Undrafted

Jake Delhomme[Good]/ Browns starter/ Undrafted

Now all of these guys not be great, but it does show you that decent and even great quarterbacks can be found in later rounds.

unless you think hunter can come in and do well at quarterback, despite being buried in our depth chart in the past behind guys who were really not professional quality, i think we need another qb from the draft. that gives us twice as much of a chance at getting a gem everyone else overlooked. it's a gamble, but you can't get ahead without taking some risks.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
    • I’m hoping SMU messes it all up and wins out. Imagine the SEC & BI0 would crap themselves trying to “fix” the problem.
