I think all crimes are Hannis and all of them have Family's that will never be the same after. I cant believe how many people disregard Rape allegations for the simple fact he is a Football player. The only reason Roethlisberger is not going to court is because the Victim pleaded with the DA not too because of embarrassment. Put yourself in her shoes and see if you would like to have to tell a bunch of people that a man forced you down and f**ked you and you might see why she did that. The simple fact is that DNA was found. Witnesses told police that he followed her into the bathroom and she went right to the hospital after the attack. If you cant see what happened then you dont want too. :frown2:

If its so obvious and a slam dunk why no charges? Because he's athelte? That doesn'tt stop tons of other players from getting charged with there crimes.

A big part of it is that the girl herself declined to press charges.

The letter from her lawyer (published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) doesn't retract the charges. It essentially says the girl decided against pressing charges because it would be a difficult and "invasive" experience.

Translation: She knew that Roethlisberger's high-powered lawyer would likely make her out to be the biggest ***** in the world, and her only advocate against that would be a prosecution team from Milledgeville, Georgia.

Given the situation, it's unlikely that she'll sue him. Also unlikely she accepted any financial settlement, as such a settlement would surely have included conditions requiring her to let Roethlisberger off the hook. She's declined to retract the charges.

Bottom Line: She likely just thought the task was too big. A shame, because Roethlisberger gets off free in the legal sense, although he's damaged in the court of public opinion.

The Steelers have left the door open that they may suspend him even if the NFL doesn't.

Seeing how it came out, I'm actually now more convinced than ever that he's guilty.

The big part was lack of concrete evidence.

'Here the overall circumstances do not lead to a viable prosecution. If they did, I would be pursuing it vigorously," Prosecutor Bright

I agree there were def shady instances. But thats all. Not enough evidence.

you make your own argument kind of tough! if she was soo drunk, perhaps she was too out of it to fight back and then there would be no rape marks! Remember, as soon as she says no and he continues, it's rape...doesn't have to be violent and full of bruises!!! As for no comments to the press...thats pretty much how every case goes! No charges...doesn't mean he's guilty or innocent either...perhaps the chance to settle out of court for $$$ is worth more to her!

I have no idea if he's guilty or innocent...but twice in such short time span surely makes you wonder!

Good point. This is my last year in college & I've seen quite a few totally wasted girls. What they all have in common is the how they were both extremely drunk & extremely horny. So yes, they hooked up together in the bathroom (yeah, it's possible to make out/have sex in a bathroom...a friend of mine actually just did it this past weekend) but, like you said, perhaps Big Ben went too far w/o her stopping him. As far as no comments to the press, one way to reply is to, like they did, say "no comment" but if a friend of mine would be raped & I'm asked about how I feel or what I think, I would at least reply with a professional & truthful answer. Overall, I'm thinking he became a little too drunk & wanted to hook up, so he did in the bathroom. Like you said, the girl didn't want to have sex but maybe just make out/suck his d*ck. WHO KNOWS??

"Thug" is what white people call young black athletes that they hate. Big Ben isnt a black athlete. No dice.

I've never heard a white person called a thug. I've only heard it used to describe blacks and latinos.

After looking up the definition I can see how it could apply to a white person too. It doesn't feel right though unless you're using it to describe poor minorities or people who look like they live in the ghetto like wealthy rappers. Calling Tiger Woods a thug just doesn't feel right.

Eminem though, I'd call him a thug.

Here is one reason.

A doctor who examined her at a nearby emergency room found a cut, bruises and vaginal bleeding but could not say if she was raped. And while some DNA was found, there was not enough to determine whom it belonged to, Bright said.

Here is another

The accuser’s family also hired lawyers, who eventually sent a letter to Bright saying the woman did not want a trial because it would be “a very intrusive personal experience.”

But I guess that means nothing in the court of opinion huh.

In alot of rape cases this happens. People also miss the fact he was giving Alcohol to a underage minor. They should charge him for that regardless but they want because he is a Football player.

The sad part about America is that as long as you have the money to pay a good lawyer your gonna get out of the chargers.

Yup, rape victims in high-profile cases like this often get victimized by our legal system if they choose to press charges.

I'm not saying Ben is guilty, but the whole presumption of innocence is based on the idea that the victim will get their day in court to prove their allegations without having their character and reputation torn to shreds by the defendants lawyer on the 6 o'clock news.

If nothing else, I hope Ben has learned his lesson from this. Ever heard of hookers Ben?

What are you talking about? Arenas? Stallworth? Vick? Kobe? Pacman?

There are countless others. Ill agree that the punishments lean for the athletes, But vast majority of the time the players atleast get charged with the right amount of evidense. I mean if anything, Id have to imagine prosecutors want to charge them, for publicity.

The DA already admitted there was not enough evidence beyond resonable doubt. It would be stupid and futile to charge him. He would be found not guilty.
