Game 79: Bobcats @ Rockets

We beat the Magic this year bro, there are only a few playoff teams that we have not beaten. Out of all 17 teams in contention for the playoffs. The only 4 the Bobcats have not beaten are the Celtic's Maverick's, Jazz, and Trailblazer's.

I feel really comfortable playing the Magic. Howard is good, but he is only one man. Howard can not take on all three centers from the Bobcats. We can throw Ratliff, Chandler, Mohammad, hell even Diop out there. I like our chances verses the Magic much more than our chances verses the Celitc's.

1-11 against the Magic. We would play the Hawks if we got the 6th seed. They have a lot more than just Howard. Plus i don't think Mr. Stern is going to be happy about us bumping the Magic in the first round.

Houston Rocket Updates

Rockets GM Daryl Morey said insisted that Luis Scola will be back next season at all costs.

Scola will be a restricted free agent after this season. He's said he wants to come back to Houston, but is going to test the market around both the NBA and the world. Retaining Scola is key for the Rockets because it softens the blow of dealing away Carl Landry at the deadline. Scola is averaging 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds on 52.3 percent shooting since the Landry deal.

Rockets waived F/C Hilton Armstrong.

Armstrong came over as part of the Carl Landry trade and appeared in just nine games for the Rockets. He'll latch on as a reserve big body somewhere.

With the Houston Rockets likely to sign Alexander Johnson for the remainder of the season, Hilton Armstrong is the probable target to be cut from the roster to make space.

Armstrong may be picked up by some team, but he's likely to remain a deep reserve wherever he lands.

Charlotte Bobcat Updates

Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson are prime candidates to be rested on Friday, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

Bobcats coaches are assessing the situation this morning, so we should find out the plan before the game. For now, we'd get both out of your lineups. They've been carrying this team to its first playoff berth and badly need time off to heal various nagging injuries.

You can't root to lose...ever. But IF they lose, you can at least find something positive to take away from it...I don't really care who we play in the 1st round. Cavs, Magic, Celtics, Hawks...though if I had to choose, I'd go w/ Boston...we'd still get a lot of coverage/hype if we upset them..though I could see some people actually taking us to win that series. No one will pick us against Lebron...or the Magic...

Drawing Atlanta would be great for the Bobcats/Hawks rivalry (Atlanta/Charlotte should be a rivalry in the NBA). And the only way to truly make a rivalry fierce is through classic playoff battles...(see: Leafs/Senators)

On a side note, Come on LB, let's see Gerald Henderson tonight!!

    • As I said less than 10 minutes into the game, Boston looks nothing like we're used to seeing. Regardless, any curb-stomping of the Bruins is welcome.  The scorers all got the glory tonight, but all 6 D-men had excellent games. Across the board- Gost, Orlov, Chatty, Walker and, of course, Slavin & Burns.
    • I just tried a few mock draft simulators and this is the only way lol. Nothing else makes sense.
    • No, biggest weakness is pass rush, but I don't think there is a blue chip can't miss DE prospect to take at #1 this year, same as with QB.  But beyond that, moving forward, yea WR is a pretty damn big weakness. We have 1 game this season over 224 yards passing and just traded away our best WR (who wasn't going to re-sign here anyways).  That WR no longer on the team was also the only player we've had this year who had over 78 yards receiving in a game.  So again, yea, WR is one of our biggest weaknesses even right now, let alone moving into the future. As I just said in my other post, I love Legette, but he's not going to be a Top 5-10 WR type of guy, Top 15-20 I can see, I think he can be a good #1 WR or an elite #2. After that, what do we have for the future?  Thielen isn't part of it, sure as hell isn't going to be Mingo, and as much as we all like Coker, in no world is Coker as our #2 to Legette as the #1 going be considered as "having weapons" at WR, even with Brooks and Sanders. But put someone like T-Mac into that group, who I genuinely think is going to be a Top 5 WR in this league for a long time, and it changes things.  A Top 5 WR with Legette/Coker as the 2/3, along with Brooks and Sanders, has the potential to be one of the best set of offensive weapons in the league if they reach their potential.
