Veteran quarterbacks Josh McCown and Patrick Ramsey are auditioning for the New Orleans Saints today, according to a league source.

McCown is a former Arizona Cardinals third-round draft pick who has played for the Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers

We will know at that point whether McCown is available to come back. Hopefully we have an answer before the draft so we can do what we need to there and still pick up a veteran if needed after the draft. I dont blame him for checking out his options given we haven't exactly embraced him this year. Maybe we are letting him see what he is worth before having discussions with him. I guess we aren't worried if someone else signs him.

i've always been a fan of mccown for some reason. even with the INTs i liked him in arizona and was impressed with what he did in the QB competition at the probowl in '06. how he got to participate in that i don't know but he was impressive.

i would like him to come back but if he doesn't best of luck to him.

My confusion comes in with why he'd rather backup a Saints QB than a Panthers QB....

at the end of the day, you're still a backup..

this then leads me to question how much the Panthers really care for him...

if nothing else, I guess he hopes the Saints will pay him a grand or 2 more...

at this point i don't know how much of a choice he has. if he wants a job before the draft he'll have to take it where he can. i can understand him not wanting to wait around.

i can also understand the panthers wanting to wait. they want to see what they can get there before they commit to anyone else. more than likely they will wait to see what becomes available post draft.

makes sense.. like I mentioned, either he wants a little more dough or the Panthers want better options (or like you mentioned, to see if a better option falls in place)

with the draft coming up, I do not expect a choice to be made..
