  • David Newton asked about Sanders' post-play comments, Canales said he didn't see it and immediately moved to the next question

Already shutting this idiot down like a seasoned pro, they must have warned him about him early haha

Robert Hunt at the podium

  • Canales brings good energy.
  • Got a black Tesla truck recently.
  • OL can run block, today went well. Some things worked, some didn't. Had good competition today.
  • Thinks that they have really good guys that are willing to compete, be gritty, and run the football.
  • Couldn't tell Corbett was transitioning to center. Seems like he was the center last year. Has done a good job communicating and getting on the same page.
  • Same reporter asking about guys holding on to feelings from last year. Hunt reiterated what Canales did: past is in the past and guys are focused on trying to win now.
  • Talent show coming up. Got some talented guys and some tomato throwers.
  • Knew that Bryce was a playmaker, now playing against him: "He likes to make plays. That's what we need. He's tough. He can sling the ball, put it in tight windows." Is really impressed with what he sees. Everybody is different. Bryce can do things that Tua can't and vice versa. Hasn't had to adjust when he holds on to the ball because it's right on schedule. OL isn't holding it longer than they need to, and that's what really impressed Hunt for such a young guy.
  • Damien Lewis is a stud. One of those old school, big body guards that puts hands on you and gets physical in the phone booth. They live within walking distance from one another and talk. Haven't been to each other's homes yet, but are pushing each other on and off the field. He's a quieter guy that speaks up. Got vocal today. Old guy in the room.
  • Thinks the pads going on is the same game, but did feel a little different than the past. Said Derrick Brown was a little heavier. Was asked about competing against DB, and Hunt says that they'll make each other better. Iron sharpen iron. If one doesn't bring it, the other is gonna get them. Played him a couple of times in his career. Mentions DB and Dexter Lawrence as big, strong guys that can do things that other big, strong guys can't. Felt what he felt from him in practice today what he felt in games, which was impressive.
  • Somebody was drawing him. Looks like Robert will get the sketch later on.

Not to be that guy but are we calling 20 yard passes deep balls now?

NFL types, including writers and, more importantly, statisticians define a deep pass as any pass that travels 20 air yards or more from the line of scrimmage.

People may not like it, or want to accept it, but it is what it is. There is some uniformity---and continuity, actually---there.

Seems like Canales actually cares about his guys and football more than the last couple coaches that were more about the job title and stuck in their old ways or just grifting in Rhules case.  Plus he's younger and in shape mentally and physically so he could probably smell DN's bs a mile away

Bryce Young up

  • Feels good. Pads bring out a little more intensity. Makes things physical, but they're still family. Brothers in the locker room. Don't want to lose periods, want to remain productive even with the intensity being raised. Making sure to keep on task and when it's over, it's over. Everyone has each others' backs and that will translate to Sundays.
  • Asked about guys that got brought in, says they're great competitors and appreciates their mindset. Tries to be the same way by communicating and improving, and has nothing but confidence in the five up front.
  • Gotta establish the run game. Doing great up front. There will be some runs that don't go well but they know that they won't abandon it. Negative plays can happen no matter what is called. Support the run game and take opportunities that it creates for them.
  • Growing and building together with Diontae. Works hard, super competitive. Sees his fire in practice and are continuing to communicate to get on the same page. Started real well and they're gonna keep working on it.
  • Asked about how he's evolved his leadership from college to the pros. Bryce liked that question a lot and said he had to think on it. Is trying to make sure that he earns the right to be a leader by focusing on getting better and showing his improvement. Having that mindset is important, but also needs to build relationships and get to know the guys off the field. It's on him to carve out time. Being year two allows for more time and more connections, and learning a new system helps them with that teambuilding.
  • Corbett was active while hurt the same as he was when starting. Was in meeting rooms, asking questions, etc. They're continuing to talk and build their relationship as they discuss things after plays. Impressed with how much of a student of the game that Corbett is and is glad that they've got good rapport.
  • Miles Sanders was super intense today and has a game day mentality to maximize his reps. Says that the attitude will permeate throughout the offense. Every rep is intense and intentional.
  • Still a little bit of the Wofford-stay away feel that he experienced as a rookie. Guys at the same hotel, taking the bus, being across the street, etc. Likes that they have their own restrooms this year.
  • They've got a couple of good performances for the rookie talent show. Had a couple of guys skate by. Yesterday was a better today, so hoping there's better effort today. Coaches got called up and did well. Still waiting for that steal the show type of performance. XL has gone. Verdict is still out on his performance, waiting on the "higher powers" to decide that.
  • Mingo is playing more freely even though it's a new system. Was confident before, but more free now that he has that year of experience under his belt. Embraces his position and at times they both were trying to survive rather than strive, but doing good now.

Practice done for the day.

I was a big Chuba hater year 1.  Seemed like he had no balance.  He'd hit a seemingly clean hole and fall over.  He's still lacking in the pass game, as both a blocker and receiver.  However he's worked very hard to improve and he's a pretty solid ball carrier now.  I'm not surprised to see him staying late.  Hopefully Tremble blossoms this year.  I had big hopes for him out of college.

It's funny how upset yall are about this. 😆

Who's upset? This really doesn't affect me one way or another in reality, and thinking something is dumb and/or discussing opinions on a discussion board does not equal upset.

Funny how y'all assume that things actually bother other people.

Practice done for the day.

Love him talking about bettering himself in order to show his leadership.  Takes that responsibility of playing better so he can lead better.  Pretty vet response there.

The man had dropsies and has busted his ass with reps to fix it.

That alone is enough to love the guy, but as you mentioned, it’s not the only part of his game that has grown.

Rhule’s wife drafted a guy who is the epitome of keep pounding.
