Unhappy Haynesworth being shopped around

More...Ellis is our only every down DT that's above average and he's injury prone(Hargrove-situational). So we're in desperate need of another DT. Sure there's the draft but with the time it takes a DT to develop vs. an OLB it makes more sense to draft an OLB. Especially for a team that is title contention. The Brown signing was brilliant...an upgrade at DE over Grant and allows us to look harder at other positions. I don't think we're going BPA.

I liked Brown as well particularly if you are looking at the present. Seems the Saints are working to keep where they are or get better. Of course the truth is Hayworth will make any defense instantly better and ultimately would be worth any draft picks it takes to get him. He can be a gamechanger on the right defense. I wish the Panthers would make a run at him as well.

The more I look at the league and our situation. I believe Haynesworth would be a great pick-up for us. With Washington moving to the 3-4, we could likely get him somewhat cheap. Especially with him not showing up to their mini-camp.

I know this is contradictory to everything we do. Taking a guy who has motivation problems. Signing someone who is 28.....

From what I understand with the way his contract is put together most of the money has already been paid to him and he is looking at a few million per year.

Could be our answer to losing Peppers, with him and our young DE's and other talent on the line, I feel our defense would be pretty nasty.

I hate to say it, but we are one game changer at DT short of an amazing defense

depending on the money left on his contract (per year and duration) I would think his presence would be a huuuuuge advantage to us. It would allow Tyler to go more 1-on-1 in the middle, the young ends to pressure on the edge, as well as Beason being freed up to wreak havoc. The problem with Haynesworth is the $$, not the talent. He's still got a good 2-3 years of All-Pro play left and another year or two of prime left after that. I wonder what the going rate is on a player whose resale value is pretty low.
