Xavier Legette struggling

Recommended Posts

I was concerned that all our WRs are the same size--about 6'2" and about 210-except for Johnson.  If you can't throw deep (time and arm) you need some YAC guys.  So we have Thielen, Mingo, XL, and TMJ all from the same basic mold.  He was not my first pick--I wanted the kid from Georgia.

having said that, in this image, he was hooked, preventing the back shoulder or quick out.  He will probably run outs, slants, digs (at times), and crossing routes.  He will not need to run the complete route tree right away.  I like Legette, but I did not understand the pick, frankly.

Yea none of our receivers fit our qb skill set and needed offensive scheme based on said qb and offensive line personnel besides Diontae, but they keep chasing this same big fast in a straight line but stiff and slow in the short area mold like Young is just going to be throwing play action deep bombs all game.  One day we will get a gm who understands the modern nfl, and draft some route running receivers who are explosive in the short area, but that time is not now.

Yea XL excels at the 50/50 balls he still has to learn how to be a complete receiver and hopefully he will with time. Youngs deep ball is the biggest question mark on our offense so far. Something I had hoped would have been worked on in the offseason but it still hasn't shown up and I'm not sure that it will. He can seemingly hit the corner/flag/deep out with consistency and a fair bit of distance but I don't think I've seen him complete a "go" ball or a fade like the 2 Dalton completed today in the red zone since he's been here and that is my.most concerning thing about Young. We don't have to rely on that aspect of his game to be a good offense but it HAS to at least be some sort of threat to the defense and so far it's still been non existent. Very concerning.

I mean he would have got flagged for holding, but I think was the case in multiple 1 on 1 today

Maybe, I don't even understand what he was trying to do in the 2nd video though.   No separation and then he slightly cut inside and just stopped at the oob?  I believe it was probably supposed to be a fade to the corner and for some reason he just didn't do that.

    • Yeah my crazy theory is Canales, Morgan, and Tillis watched the film and read the locker room.  They saw a team giving up on a player and frustrated with his production.  Seems like a pretty easy decision from there...
    • We'll probably still lose, but I believe we'll be more competitive. I don't think signing another vet QB is wise considering we already have one. I think we should trade for a young QB sitting on the bench. I'm bias, but I would like for us to consider Rattler. Carr is doing very well with the Saints so he may be their starter for a while, so they may be more willing to trade Rattler. I'm not too impressed with the QB draft class for next year. I would rather trade back our 1st round pick for more picks and go BPA. Continue with the rebuilding process, and if Rattler or whoever doesn't cut it, then hopefully Manning will be the guy in 2026. And Tepper has to back off with any decision making.
    • I said in another thread, I can’t find a glaring liability on offense. If Dalton can drop some 25+ yard dimes, we have some dudes that can make hay. Picks be damned. I’ll take a 2 or 3 pick day for 35 points on the board. We just need something. A spark. Anything.  We won’t be good, but it has potential to be fun to watch, and the tone in the stadium… hope.
