Alex Brown signed 2-yr with Saints

Recommended Posts

saints offered him a starting job. what do we have? a part in a rotation.

can't really compete with a team willing to give him a starting gig....esp. when that team just won a ring. it was highly unlikely he was going to make it out of new orleans.

the fact that we didn't get him doesn't mean that we didn't try. he went with the best offer he was probably going to get.

1st I was responding too the dunbass who feels we don't need another DE. He is obviously another Madden player who thinks we can turn off injuries and make it throught the season with 3 DE. Plus their goes another guy who feels that Brown and Cj can "just" step up and our DE problems will vanish.

2nd Who's too say Alex B wouldn't have started? Who had better numbers last year him or any other DE on this roster now??? Hummmmmmm. Lets see maybe he beats out CJ in TC. It's not like CJ beat out Brayton last year. Who's too say Alex Brown don't beat them both out? Or EB could still not be Big Enough too be a everydown DE?? Nobody seem too wonder that anymore it's just a fact now that CJ and EB are both ready too not only step up their production but help ease the lose of JP as well?????:eek:

Does nobody else find that too be alot too ask of 2 player who have never started a game????

he'd have to compete for a job here. likely that wouldn't be the case there. plus...the saints are a championship team now. say you don't have any loyalty to one or the other and were looking for a job and you had to choose between a 8-8 team with question marks at HC and in several positions or a team that had just won the superbowl and shows no signs of regression?

sorry but i would choose the team that had proven itself over a team that was trying to. he had that visit arranged first for a reason. more than likely that was on the top of his list. can't say i blame him. the situation just looks better from the outside.

and, yes that is a lot to ask but they are doing that across the board. many players are going to HAVE to step up if they want to win. they (the whole team, players and coaches) pretty much are forced in a situation where they all have to pick it up. with so many players in one year deals or trying to get larger deals they are all carrying a heavier burden which can only help their motivation. for other players (beason, esp.) it's a matter of pride.

now all that remains is to see just who and how they respond to it. one way or another the team will know what areas are going to be true strengths and weaknesses going forward. whatever weaknesses there are will have a chance to be addressed as there won't be a whole lot invested in them in the first place.

consider this offseason and this year to be auditions for the team going forward but know that doesn't mean this year is necessarily a wash. the pressure is on all of them to succeed. just like any team in any given season, the only way to know if adjustments made in the offseason is what they needed to win. they took a gamble for sure this year but that's better than just throowing out the same ol same ol.

Money is a consideration and we have more then them.

This is why we might need too be more active. To many player we need too step up and not enough who just have too give their normal numbers for us too be good.

They already knew what weaknesses they had they just created more. If that last line is true then Jerry R is a son of a Bitch piece of crap. The way the country and this community is hurting. You raise the price of tickets for a team your not invested in??? So we pay more money too see a testdrive team????

Again How the fug can you raise prices for a audition team???? You have too pay money when you gamble jerry is not. The only thing that makes it not the same ole same is they cut people but they haven't added anything of worth. So we won't have the "21- 22" starter coming back thing. Now we have the "14 of 22" starter coming back with 7 of their back-ups taking their place thing.

Dude, no disrespect. But, you are coming across like a pissed off 5 yo that is holding his breath and stomping his feet because he did not get the toy he wanted in Wal-Mart.

Calm down.

MH what the fug are you talking about. This is a fan sight I'm a fan. I buy tickets too games and spend money on beer and food. I love this team!!! But I have a problem when rayzor says this is a audition team but we have too pay higher prices for a audition team then we did for a superbowl contender.

I don't see how more people don't have a problem with this.

how often have they raised prices?

how much did they raise them?

how do the ticket prices compare with those of other teams in the league?

also...you seem to be solely fixated on this rebuilding/audition part. is it impossible for this team to be competitive with the roster that we currently have and the draft/FA acquisitions that are to come?

you also seem to be thinking that you either decide to be competitive this year or try to be competitive in the future. can you not do both?

did the losses on both sides of the ball (as fiz said...there are essentially three on each and i would add that on a whole that those losses aren't that bad) totally destroy any hopes this team has of being competitive?

i just don't think you are looking at the bigger picture here and are taking a rather simplistic and negative approach to it. your choice.

I don't know how many times I know of 2-times not inculiding this year. But that doesn't matter. Who raise prices when your community is going throught a ression and unemployment is higher then it has ever been. Not too mention you didn't make the playoffs the year before and might be going into a lockout.

You have a team on the other side of downtown who is going too the playoffs for the 1st time and they are lowering their ticket prices.

As this team stands right now and even after you add some rookies (which will still be ? if they can play in this league) is a lower half team. We might have a avg. offence but the D has more ? then anwser that's a bad situtation too be in.

prices always get raised in a recession at some point by everyone. they didn't last year but from a business standpoint it had to happen at some point. as crazy as it sounds, technically we are actually out of the recession but that is another debate

prices have very little to do with the product on the field and it shouldn't.

again, compare the ticket prices here with other teams. here is last years (pdf file) http://teammarketing.com.ismmedia.com/ISM3/std-content/repos/Top/News/nfl%20fci%202009.pdf panthers fan have had it easy. they can raise them and still be among the very lowest in the league. this, along with most other things you seem to be worked up over, isn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

also...just how much were those prices raised? did they skyrocket?

I total disagree with you. I go back to my 1st example the bobcats don't charge the same rate as the lakers or Dallas because they knew their product on the court was not up too the level you could charge regular NBA prices.

I also promise if we could get the imformation that Browns Tickets are alot cheaper then Colt tickets it's not the same product.

Jerry could not have picked a worst time too become a asshole. Not only is the community still hurting. The Team has underacheive and the fans know you have Money and you don't spend it? Give me a break it looks crazy that you are saving alot of money you are not useing on players but you raise ticket prices on your fans? No excuses for this action no Q-A while he sits in a tower some where.

As a fan who loves this team why do I have too pay more for you to

1. Make a statment too players in a labour dispute

2. A team that as of right now is not a contender

3. A team who hasn't won a playoff game in 4 years

4. A lame duck FO

5. A owner who feels he doesn't have too explain why he is making the chioces he is.

6. Again you have a team 5 minutes away from the stadium who is making the playoffs, signing people to help them win, lowering ticket prices, A owner who. Detailing his plans for the team, Putting a good product on the court. This is your competition for my dollars and as of right now they are doing a better job.
