From smoothies to kicks ( our new kicker)

Todd Carter moved home after college last spring and decided he needed a job. So, he began working 18-to-24 hours per week at Tropical Smoothie on Hill Rd.

But it didn't take him long to realize making smoothies for minimum wage wasn't his future, and he quit.

Again tired of “being a bum,” Carter has landed another job this year.

It's not quite blending fruit, juice and ice.

Carter, a Flint Carman-Ainsworth grad and former Grand Valley State kicker, signed a one-year, $320,000 contract Tuesday to become the Carolina Panthers' kickoff specialist.

maybe we can skip all the shitty talk of rooting for the underdog with 23423 camp fodder players and use that excuse on this one fella.

then we can focus on rooting for our players to step the hell up and fill the roles we drafted them for.

I don't remember Rhys Lloyd being all that great in the NFL before the Panthers signed him. He was undrafted and couldn't even play a full season (couldn't even stay on an active roster) in the NFL before coming to Carolina.

Granted, I do not know much about Todd Carter but why couldn't he make the roster? I am going to be optimistic about this signing.

agreed. when we signed him most people were scratching their heads. a kickoff specialist was pretty much unheard of but now they are popping up all over the place. msotly it's just a bunch of inaccurate big legged kickers who couldn't make it as a pro otherwise.
