Pepper

Butter

Bacon

Sausage

Cheese

Anything else is just damn Yankee intervention and is grounds for treason... Shrimp, no matter how disgusting, are excusable because it probably originated in the South...

I agree with your sentiment here SLJ, but I look at this the other way... it's the grits that are making the other stuff better...

My all-time favorite dish is two over-easy eggs, grits and bacon/sausage/ham or any combo thereof.
