That sure is a long winded excuse to talk yourself and others, that the team must do whatever it takes to get marshall.

To compare marshall to smith is laughable. Smith is a great team player, and has already done more for the community than marshall ever will. As far as trouble, smith has anger issues...and he was drafted a panther. This part of the conversation is over.

In case you don't listen to the media, the broncos will accept nothing less than a first round pick for him. They don't even have to get ride of him.

There are receivers in the draft. No, they won't have the same impact that marshall would.

Oh well.

I understand you will be upset when we don't get marshall....I know you will blame the front officw....I just hope some day, you and others, will come back to earth.

Smitty does charity work. So Smitty is a team player.

Marshall put aside his differences with the coach and went to work this year. He is not a team player.

Smitty punched a player in the face in '08... he is a team player.

Marshall's only on the field issue (team related) is wanting to get paid. Like Bolden, he put his differences aside for the team. He is not a team player.

Smitty was drafted by us, so JR finds him to be "our kind of guy".. yet he has punched 2 team mates on the field. he is a team guy.

Marshall pointed out he has to smarten up off the field.. no trouble in the last 2 years.. Compared to Smitty though, he's not our guy... (Smitty got in trouble how recently ago?)

This part of the conversation is now over.. I'm not following you all too well I guess, PC...

we haven't drafted a WR in Fox's entire tenure.. So what is laughable, Pantherclaw, is your next statement...

oh well? oh well? seriously man? oh well, who gives a poo if we win or lose... I'm sorry my head is in the clouds while I do not expect Hurney/Fox to pick up a true #1 WR in the next few years..

and I'm the one with my head in the clouds...

:nono:

-------------

as for the 1st they require.. well not much talk is going on. We can wait 2 weeks and then be right back in the game.. let's pray that happens.

while we're waiting, we can be proactive and see what kind of deal the Bronco's are willing to work out...

as for your point about they don't have to get rid of him.. well, they have made it clear they want to get rid of him and vice versa.. so.. pardon me while I hang my hat elsewhere on that tidbit.

edit: oh, and yes I'm using excuses.. how that is relevant is beyond me. I have plenty of excuses why this makes sense.. I'm sorry excuses are taboo for you.. lol

Not to mention that if Marshall was here, you get the best possible curve for grading the maturation and skillset of Matt Moore. I mean, if you have Double Trouble, our O-Line and Smith and Marshall, you know if you're not getting it done through the air it's on the QB. Saves us the trouble of going through the "Jake Delhomme Effect" argument again in three years of wondering if it's Moore or the fact that he has only one option to throw to. JMO.

I won't burst your bubble if you don't f**k with mine bleys. ;)

/no homo

I was joking with you... I want it to happen. It makes sense to try and make it happen.

What doesn't make sense is thinking "fug it, oh well"...

here is why we most likely won't be getting marshall....he's got a first round tender on his head and word is that the broncos won't take anything less than a pick that comes from the first 20 spots.

what do we have to offer? a second? sorry, i don't think i would spend the 17th on him either. a 2nd rounder would be ok but that isn't nearly enough to get him.

anyone who gets pissed at the panthers for not getting him were deluded into thinking that we had a legit shot in the first place.

we don't have a first rounder.

we aren't getting him.

oh noes! he punted a ball during practice. thats even worse than punching out your teammate. !!!!!

lol...

look.. I'm not saying Marshall is a fuggin saint.. but to compare him to Tank Williams or Pacman Jones is way over the top..

the kid is young and dumb.. get off the soapbox.. he has also put his blinders on and went to work. but let's ignore that.. he also said he needs to straighten up off the field, so far so good.. but let's ignore that...

he's talented, he's worth a look.. nothing he has done is so bad that we can't attempt to bring him in..

get him off the cross, we need the wood, and a #2 receiver.. looks like he has realized to straighten up.. with some good mentors like Smitty, DWill, Stewart, hell even Beason or Harris, I think it would do him a lot of good..

that's pretty much the extent of this conversation..

I've been posting from my phone....so I try to keep the posts, and point short. This time, I will expand a bit...hopefully you will be able to follow.

Anyways...you seem to beating a hell of a drum on the character issue.

The big difference between the two, is Steve Smith, has always been a Panther. He's family to Richardson. So of course, Richardson gives him the chance to make right. You can go back and forth between the two, and how you think they have similar issues, but they don't. I never once said that I dislike Marshall. In fact, I think he a great receiver. I would love to have a receiver of his capability along side Steve Smith....but I also know Richardson and our front office well enough to know they are not going to give the Broncos the pick they require for the player. Not going to happen, no matter how much we want it to happen. You can continue to be pissed with me for bringing up that fact, but it is what it is! :nopity:

And when I say oh well, it's cause it's not the only option man. Whether you think so or not, this team does draft well. We haven't hit on a receiver yet, but I don't believe they will continue to strike out at that position. That is a doom and gloom attitude. There is a lot of talent in this draft, and the Panthers have some picks...so why is it so hard to sit back and see what they do with it, instead of sitting here banging a drum about how they must trade for a Marshall, when the reality says, we don't have the compensation they want, and the Panthers aren't even the most interested team. Denver has said repeatedly, (that's making it clear in your speak) they will only take a first for Marshall. They will get it from somebody, or they will be content playing him one more year.

I understand the desire, and excitement of having a receiver of his capabilities along side Smith..I share it. The difference is I know my team well enough that I don't get my hopes up for something I know isn't going to happen....and from the sounds of it, you (and others) are ready to throw the entire front office under the bus if they don't trade for Marshall.

I hear ya.. and I've been a Panther fan long enough not to get my expectations up.. This drum I'm beating really only has to do with people trying to compare Marshall to someone like Pacman Jones when he's really no different than Smitty..

I normally wouldn't throw Smitty under the bus, but facts are facts. I get your point on JR knowing Smitty, so there's a connection to keep him. But if others are trying to say Marshall is worse than Smitty, well, I think it's bullshit and bias.. He's immature and hasn't been the perfect role model: I get it. But people do grow up and we have a good group of fellas that will help more than hurt. and Marshall has shown and said it's clicking as far as maturity goes..

Believe me, I highly doubt we will be bringing in Brandon Marshall.. my expectations aren't the issue, my frustration is with this team and the same issues.. I can't tell you how irritating it is that Fox has not drafted ONE WR that has benefited this team over the course of his tenure..

Here's my point: it's been nearly 7 years that Fox has been here and all the sudden Smitty calls the FO out and we're going to make it happen? I really do doubt it..

and if we do.. I will be happy. on the other hand, that is frustrating as well.. A team needs more than 1 WR and we've held ourselves back by not finding a way to make it happen and then all the sudden.. it happens when Smitty is getting out of his prime?

--------

trust me, I get it.. and the drum isn't banging so much in my daily life about this Marshall thing, but the annoyance of people acting like it's a horrible idea because he has been a primadonna WR.. 1) get used to it. Most WRs are. 2) young NFL players do cause disruption on/off the field.. not all of them are perfect. but if they show they can get to work, like Marshall did, I think that means something..

oh, and my posture towards you hasn't come from the point your making, but how you originally started out saying it.
