The Pre-Draft Lull

It will likely begin soon, if it hasn't already.

In the weeks leading up to the draft, teams tend to put free agent activity on hold. They need to concentrate on their final draft prep, and honestly it makes sense to hold off on veteran guys until they see what they get on Draft Day.

Naturally, you'll see some RFA signings because the deadline is coming up (the 14th) but these weeks are traditionally a bit of a dead spot for UFAs. Granted, with the different rules this year it might not be the same, but odds are it will. The more likely activity you'll see is pre-draft posturing and maybe some pick trades.

I know many of you have been tired out by the breakneck pace of the Panthers offseason, but take heart. You may just have a chance to rest here for a week or two :sosp:

Back on topic (and ignoring the loser/attention *****)...

The change in rules this season does make me wonder if things will be different. I suspect not, but you never know.

The McNabb trade might be the last "big splash" before draft day, but there's talk about Haynesworth. The Skins just paid a bonus that now makes his contract easier to take via trade.

Newsworthy free agency has been over for some time now. Things to look foward to now would be a Brandon Marshall trade,Jason Campbell Trade and maybe a Haynesworth trade.

Potential Landing spots for those guys

1.Marshall...looks like Seahakws have the most and according to some reports the only interest. Would make sense for Jets to try and package Braylon Edwards and a 2nd round pick for him. Eventually they will have to come off their 1st round pick or nothing stance for a move to be made.

2.Jason Campbell...The most likely to end up on another roster soon. Biggest thing with Campbell is he wants to start, teams where he would have that possibilty seem to already have their eyes on a rookie qb to start developing rather than getting him up to speed on another new system. Seems like he'll be a draft day trade, for a team who misses their potential q.b of the future in the draft.

3.Haynesworth, well thats a big ugly mess there. He wants to be on a 4-3 team which limits his suitors since the 3-4 is becoming so popular these days. Maybe Jacksonville should take a chance on him if the price is right. They need to do something newsworthy to create some excitement and start selling some tickets.
