Really wish y'all would get over the dude's height already. There's no stat that shows a correlation between height and performance for QBs.  There's plenty else we can criticize Young for without constantly harping on him being short. Cam set unrealistic expectations for this fanbase.

r/dataisbeautiful - [OC] NFL quarterback's % of passes batted down compared to height (in inches...sorry 50% of Reddit)

I don’t harp on his height, but it is a factor as is his size. He has a lot to overcome. So we’ll see.

Talking about stats correlating... to say there are no stats correlating, how many QBs his size are there to garner stats from in the first place? Is that a fair question?

There aren’t like, any comps in the modern day that come to mind I’m probably forgetting someone but besides Murray.... ?

Imma joke, it’s hard to bat a ball down when they are throwing it sideways OB. But that ain’t the real risk it happens with all of them.

As long as he can CONSISTENTLY avoid having games like he did against the Saints, Chargers, Broncos, Bucs, Eagles and Cowboys then he may have a shot at a breakout season in 2025.

He was benched and didn't beat a winning team while getting thumped by the Cowboys, Eagles and Bucs in 4 of his last 6 games. That's not a breakout. He had a complete and consistent game to end the season on a good note with a little flash and no crash.

Young has had 1 win against a winning team in 28 games. Baseline for a breakout season is 8 wins with at least 3 against winning teams(1 on the road), and a 3 game winning streak.

If Legette catches the ball we beat the Eagles. If the defense stops Mahomes from marching down the field in less than a minute, we beat the Chiefs. If Chuba doesn't fumble in OT, we beat the Bucs in round 1. Three playoff teams against whom Bryce did enough to get us the win.

Not to mention that counting Ws only on the QB when your defense gives up 31 points a game is just.... yeah

You're so cooked if Panthers get one of: Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin, Davante Adams, Tet MacMillan, Tyler Warren, Luther Burden... not looking good for you. But yeah, i guess Bryce could regress if our skill position players continue to suck.

I will never understand the "he didn't beat x team" mantra.  Wins and losses are a team stat, not an individual stat.

Before you make any effort to respond to this guys posts ever, just know that he believes he’s found a secret formula to find franchise QBs, and one of them that he’s hyped up is Desmond Ridder.

    • At this juncture, I'm leery of bringing in any more Uglies over 30. Too much money and risk of injuries is a lot higher. I have some issues with Mays and I would really like to strengthen the interior but I feel any potential alternative should be via the draft. That said, I would prioritize drafting an eventual replacement for Moton over a center.
    • Tell that to Andy Dalton. He was without Thielen and Coker, right? He had Johnson and Mingo after losing Thielen during the Raiders game. Did the play caller change? Stop the excuses and pulling down the success of the receivers and the playcalling. So, why is Young throwing more risky throws a game better than reading the defense post snap and making the correct decision? That gives the defense more opportunity to change the game. Young's accuracy is good. His post snap pocket vision and decision making is not. That's why you don't want to be on the left side of that chart compared to the field. He will continue to cost the Panthers games against good and mediocre pass defenses if you want him to stay on the left side throwing more passes into tight windows. We also know having Thielen and Coker is an improvement over Johnson and Mingo. So, I'd say Dalton would have moved further to the right if he had Thielen and Coker. Give Young Johnson/Mingo instead and you'd likely see Mac Jones type production with the Patriots having him high and left in that same chart. You can't just hope Young plays the worst pass defenses like the Giants, Cardinals and Falcons for 17 games. Teams have and will make Young pay for what he did against the Cardinals and Falcons. There won't be an OT opportunity against those defenses. Young needs to get himself over to the right side of the chart with Jayden Daniels and Andy Dalton. The supporting cast excuses are not going to do that for him.
    • We should draft one in the late rounds, but it feels good for OL to not be an emergency need going into an offseason for once.
