Shaq Thompson has learned to adapt to change, and to lead

Shaq is an average starting LB getting paid like a future HOFer. When you're way overpaid that gives you a lot of tolerance for bullshit.

You should cast most of your blame on herniay who over-payed nearly everyone. He panicked hardcore when Luke dropped the retire talk on the team.

Plus the level of LB history here is ultra high, he's very good.

Yeah I think Luke, TD, Beason, and Morgan kind of spoiled us at LB play.

Even the "2nd" tier LBs are ultra high-

spoon- whom should have gotten the bag over Morgan.

barrow- super solid.

mills- look outside..

anderson- almost had 500 tacs while playing with beason, TD, luke

salt and pepper while not long stays, but put up all-pro-ish numbers and caused havoc.

I still remember Chris draft and his big number season as a fill-in, but that was a one time deal.

Luvu put up elite numbers for 2.5 seasons as well.

Hell I just remember Mark fields, he had a good couple years.... maybe placed in "3rd" line with diggs....

The Carolina Panthers in their entire history has been BLESSED with riches at the linebacker position.

So much so, that anyone not elite gets poo upon.

Thank God Thompson doesn't give a fug about what others think,  having to be the worst long term starting MLB,  yet his still valued by those in the business while the fans are hating on him.

Still claiming he's overpaid when he's now working for peanuts as a starting MLB.

the huddle sure does love wearing blinders.

It isn’t unanimous. people appreciate him. We just aren’t feeling real indebted to him (for all those good times we had together). He is unfortunate enough to shine, whenever he does shine, for a losing cause and an increasingly unhappy fan base.

He's more than most deserve. But deserve never has nothing to do with anything.

To everyone in this thread and other Shaq doubters. The jags came in at the same time, correct? Well here is their LB history.

Shaq is right at the top in tackles and tfls. If not for this past years injury he would be their/jags all-time leader. But here on Carolina he's not even among many fans top five.

While he is adapting, changing and leading, he has looked pretty much like the same guy his entire career.

I dont have a problem with him now, hes a solid starter, hated when he had that massive contract and hes not a game changer.

    • Right? I mean if that’s not the biggest indictment on how shitty Bryce is.
    • I don't agree it's "much better." Bryce has been absolutely god awful, but the D has also allowed the most points in the league and as bad as Bryce is there has not been a single bright spot from the offense around him. OL is yet to be seen, yes I saw the stat on pressures but it paints an incomplete picture considering Bryce panic checkdowns so quickly. I'm not sold on Canales' scheme yet either. We will know much more following Sunday's game with Dalton starting. This year's team might be better than last year, but I'm not convinced yet.
    • Of course he’s having regular meetings. We literally just benched our 2023 #1 overall pick. Canales was hired for the exact same reasons that we all wanted to see happen in 2024. Figure out if Young could ever be the guy. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to think they likely saw the same poo all the announcers and fans saw. I agree that is 99.999% likely that Canales walked into Tepper’s office this morning and said, yep Tep, it’s as bad as we thought last week. The kid ain’t it and we need to move on and decide what we’ve got on this team and Dan’s gotta jump on the scouts and figure out the next QB.
