Haynesworth could be headed to St. Louis

I think that under the terms of the contract, we would be able to keep him for three years for 15.7 million dollars. That's assuming Washington ate the 4/1 roster bonus of 21 million. We would have to cut him in 2013 though, or redo his contract to get rid of that balloon payment.

Redskins are screwed, but the next team may not be.

look at this monster...

2/27/2009: Signed a seven-year, $100 million contract. The deal contains $41 million guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus and his 2009-2011 base salaries. Haynesworth is due a $29 million "poison pill" in 2013, effectively making it a four-year, $48.2 million deal. Another $15 million is available through incentives.

2010: $3.6 million (+ $21 million guaranteed option bonus due 4/1),

2011: $5.4 million,

2012: $6.7 million (+ $500,000 workout bonus),

2013: $8.5 million (+ $20 million "discretionary signing bonus" + $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31 = Poison Pill Year),

2014: $10.3 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31),

2015: $11.5 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31),

2016: Free Agent

who's going to want to touch that and still give up a draft pick or two?

That's not as bad for the team taking him as you would think. The skins take the hit for money that they paid so that puts the $26 million signing and option bonus entirely on them. That means a team could take him for 3 years ('10, '11, & '12) for a $15.7 million investment.

A motivated Haynesworth for 3 years at 15.7 million isn't bad. An unmotivated fat ass with a groin issue is a waste of money. Add in that, if there is a cap in '13, you would probably take about a $10 million dollar hit for cutting him and you have a dud. I wouldn't want him for that much money.

Actually his contract is not that big if he is traded. Washington already paid him. It is essentially a 4 year 48 million dollar contract because the 5th year is a poison pill of 29 million.

As for the 48 million he was paid 5 million to sign and received a 21 million dollar options already so 26 of the 41 million are already paid for by the Redskins. So his contract for the next 3 years would be his guaranteed salaries which would be 15 million- 3.5 million in 2010, 5 million in 2011, and 6.5 million in 2012. There are another possible 15 million in incentives and workout bonuses but those he will have to earn and usually it is well worth it for a player to reach their incentives.

Look at the math and tell me where I am wrong. Washington has already eaten the majority of the guaranteed money. It would be a bargain now that all of that is out of the way. A second rounder would be a steal at this point and I bet you could get him for a 3rd. Baker would have a field day with Haynesworth. He would be our Kris Jenkins back again. He would make our line go from suspect to pretty good single handedly.

I would be fine with getting him personally (and for a 3rd no question). Becuase I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they have to pay the entirety the remaining guaranteed money upon trade or release. Making it essiental a no risk (money wise) trade since there would be none left for us to pay if he is cut. Haynesworth was dominate with the Titans and good when he actually played with the Skins. It's all about the motivation and work ethic. The risk is worth a 3rd defiantly.

Not if the team doesn't pay him that bonus that would be due. Cutting him before payment would avoid any cap hit (under the last known CBA, no telling what the next will say).

That's kind of what I said, only with a lot more words.;)

the only thing he's owed is about 18 over the next 3 years which is absolutely nothing.

the panthers would be dumb as hell not to trade like a 2nd or a 3rd+someone they have a plethora of (corners and offensive linemen) but of course they won't because of dipshit character concerns.

he'd immediately address the biggest need that we're going to that pick on anyway.
