Kolb vs McNabb (Battle of the Ultimatums)

As 1/2 Panther Fan, 1/2 Eagle fan (I know, I'm a fraud) I can tell you that I think Kolb will run Andy Reid's offense better than McNabb. McNabb always had accuracy issues, which is something that is a problem when running a WCO. Kolb has shown some nice accuracy in the starts that he has had.

As for the Eagles, Patriots, and successful teams alike- they get rid of old players while they still have value and bring in younger players to fill the void.

There is a reason the Patriots and Eagles have a huuuuge amount of picks in the first day.. makes it easier to replenish a roster that way.. instead of waiting until players can barely walk..

Interesting you bring up the Patriots ...rumor has it the Patriots have been trying to acquire Kolb for a couple of years now.

And now, the Eagles best receiver weighs in...

PFT: DeSean Jackson - "It was time for a change"

n comments to newspaper reporters Wednesday, Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson tried to say the right things about Donovan McNabb's depature.

He seemed less concerned with politics on 97.5 in Philadelphia, a radio station that pays him for a show during the season. (Such arrangements are the norm with major players.)

"It was time for a change," said Jackson, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "We've got some young players here. I'm just excited about everything."

Jackson's radio buddies gave him a chance to retract the words. He didn't back down.

"At the end of the day, I'm not the owner," Jackson said. "Obviously, that's not just my opinion. [but] I'm not going to get caught up in saying . . . whatever."

Ouch :(

Saying "that's not just my opinion" would make it seem there were others on the "time for change" bandwagon, quite possibly some of those McNabb had thrown under the bus in the past (he had a bad habit of that).

how many starts has he had?

McNabb has the best TD-INT ratio in the league for the past decade, how has he been inaccurate?

I understand the confidence in Kolb(eerily similar situation to Moore & Carolina.) but it isn't fair to say McNabb wasn't one of the best QB's in the league. McNabb was the sole reason they were even in the playoffs last year.

In fairness, you have to attribute some of that to the scheme he plays in.

The West Coast Offense is built on short, safe passes. Using an MO like that, David Carr had a great completion percentage. Likewise, guys like Jeff Garcia and A J Feeley can look like kings in that offense, bums in others.

Is McNabb good? Sure, but the offense he's in does make it easier. And make no mistake, there are flaws (same as with any QB).

.

Ah the great TD-INT ratio that McNabb is so fond of and does everything to protect.....stats can be very misleading. Take a look at his completion % and see where that ranks in the last decade...I don't know what it is exactly but I doubt it is very good.

The #1 complaint Eagle fans have about McNabb is the "worm burners" he always threw. Instead of trying to get make an accurate pass in tight coverage, he would constantly throw at his receivers feet in order to make the ball uncatchable by not only the defender but unfortunately by his own receiver also. I always thought the Eagles should try out a baseball shortstop as a WR.
