Panthers to sign a Kicker pretty soon...

Recommended Posts

Indoors and no pass rush....I used to be able to do that. It's a whole different ball of wax when you have people trying to block the kick and wind in your face. There's no denying the kid's got a cannon, but he's not going to have time to play with his hair in the NFL.

There's probably a reason he got no looks from NFL teams before.

Actually, there is a certain logic to that, and he's also younger.

(there'd be more in a capped year, but the principle is the same)

Age has nothing to do with it as kickers kick into their 70s.

And it's not like we were breaking the bank with Lloyd. We may as well have kept the dude.

Still gotta plan for the future.

If you want my honest opinion, my guess is that they gave up on the idea of Lloyd ever becoming a guy who could do field goals as well.

The real purpose for having a "kickoff specialist" is an extended audition to be Kasay's successor. My take is that Lloyd's audition was over.

I don't know if Lloyd was working with Kasey on FG's. Maybe Lloyd wasn't catching on. Is it possible he could go under Kasey's wing and become a solid FG kicker.

What a great final gift from the last Original Panther. Train a kid with a Cannon to replace him.

We did ok with Lloyd and Kasey. I guess we could have used that spot a couple of times for Jarrett or someone else but we definitely didn't miss him.

Go Panthers

I'm sure he did work with Kasey.... What else did they have to do during practice besides kick while eveyone else is busting their azz. It was only two of them, and hours of practice

Hope he doesn't mind hitting and tackling because he's gonna see a lotta action in that regard. I can't stand a kicker that is afraid to hit or tackle. Sauerblood was OK at that and I've seen Baker jaw returners a coupla' times.

I've always thought that the kickers and punters should be pretty tough and actually be thinking every single return that they will have to hit someone.

Damn people...

First off where did I pretend to be an insider?

I got a phone call with the rumor, came here and posted it, and immediately looked for a link to back it up, because I knew some people would be all like "link?"...

It wasn't hard to find, considering it had been posted a couple hours before I heard about it on MLive...

I'm sorry if you can't Google something and copy and paste the link in a matter of 60 seconds... but I can... get the fug over it and stop trying to make this thread about me and whether or not I have any inside sources... I do a good enough job of that to keep you worryin' about what I say, apparently...
