Panthers to sign a Kicker pretty soon...

Recommended Posts

So I guess we know how Baker's tryout at KO's went... LOL

Why aren't we looking at Punters that can be KOS as well? I really don't think Baker is exactly irreplaceable punter and he brings no added value. Bring in both if you ask me and let them all have at it.

Indoors and no pass rush....I used to be able to do that. It's a whole different ball of wax when you have people trying to block the kick and wind in your face. There's no denying the kid's got a cannon, but he's not going to have time to play with his hair in the NFL.

That was probably just a video he made to get his name out there and give teams scouts something more to look at than game film. I'm sure he was kicking outdoors for the Panthers tryout.

He'll kick outdoors for sure, but I wonder if the team will make him kick more quickly? He has a long set up time. Things move more quickly in a game. Many strong-leg guys can hit 50 and 55 yard FGs given all the time in the world and no pass rush.

I hit 60 yards several times in practice with no pass rush off a tee holder, but even with a simulated rush in practice it cuts into your distance because you have to clear the linemen with their hands up; let alone in a game with a kick block on.

Not to mention the fact that it's actually held by a holder, who has very minimal time to get the ball from the snap down to the holding position. That can take A LOT out of a guy's accuracy. Trust me.

I don't know if Lloyd was working with Kasey on FG's. Maybe Lloyd wasn't catching on. Is it possible he could go under Kasey's wing and become a solid FG kicker.

What a great final gift from the last Original Panther. Train a kid with a Cannon to replace him.

We did ok with Lloyd and Kasey. I guess we could have used that spot a couple of times for Jarrett or someone else but we definitely didn't miss him.

Go Panthers

So we get rid of Rhys, and open a roster spot, to test out a cheaper version of Rhys to fill that spot?

Um...ok.

Actually, there is a certain logic to that, and he's also younger.

(there'd be more in a capped year, but the principle is the same)
