Marc Bulger released

the main arguement here is Bulger vs Cambell. Camber would cost draft picks and would compete to start. Bulger would come in as a #2 and main roll would be to mentor Moore.

I think Canbell bring in more still then Bugler but we need all the picks we have so Bulger is the better option. IMO

Are you trying to be funny with the various misspellings of both Bulger and Campbell? :P

I'd say the money line on Bradford going to STL is now about 10000000000. Anyone notice how Bulger hasn't done a single thing since we walsted into STL and beat them in the dome in the playoffs when they hadn't lost there in years?

Oh boy do I remember that exciting game, triple overtime I think? They even thought about putting Kurt Warner in but he refused.

Jake needed competition, Moore needs a pacifier?

Exactly.

We need to get the best QB on the field. If Cambell or Bulger comes into training camp and kicks ass, sorry Matt Moore. I can't see why people who say they are fans of the "team", are trying to bring anything but the best QB possible in. Competition is what this game is based on. If Matt Moore is the right guy, then he should beat whoever comes in. Then whomever is the best option 2 is the backup.

Who cares if a quarterback is seen as our "quarterback of the future." That will be determined by the player that shows they are best able to lead the team.

Like how Jake was picked over Moore?

If the Panthers had competent QB evaluating abilities I would say Campbell, with Fox & Co. it is best to stick with the Bulger. But, if Fox is planning to be fired Campbell needs to be picked up.

i think bulger has a drinking problem

Never heard anything like that about Bulger. I think you have him confused with someone else.

Why would you want your backup quarterback to be "non-threatening"?[

"Non-threatening" isn't as big a deal to me. The fact that Bulger has actually been a leader on a winning team is. The questions about him tend to be related to his age and health, not his brain power and leadership skills. That's a pretty big deal when looking for a backup.

A "mentor thing" is not really needed if you have a top 6-8 QB, but for a QB that has never started a full season, and is thrust into the starting role...yea it could be a big help.

Pretty much.

Not to mention guys like Moore, Delhomme and others have credited part of their development to guys like Rodney Peete and Vinny Testaverde.

I'd prefer the front office move on Bulger than Campbell.

Bulger is older and prone to shoulder trouble, but he made plays on a team that was much worse than any Redskins team over the last 5 years. There isn't a smarter Quarterback playing the game right now, and given Bulgers sheer knowledge of offensive plays, he would practically be a second coach in the tape room. Considering that our OC Davidson is a former lineman, I think adding some fresh veteran intellectual quarterback perspective is a DAMNED GOOD IDEA.

I'd argue that Campbell hasn't been challenged to make plays as a quarterback, and for lack of a better word -was always expected to "manage" the run-rich offense, and not turn the ball over. This was the case in spite of the fact that Cambell has been surrounded by various committees of tested albeit mediocre veteran receivers. Throughout that all, Campbell always had the option of an elite tight end, something he will NOT have here.

There will be other Quarterbacks to hit the market, but Bulger will be gone relatively soon, and obviously he is looking of an end-of-career contract. I say offer him 13/16 million for a 3/4 year contract, with 5/7 mill guaranteed.
