Panthers interested in Jason Campbell

A lot of people saying that "well he's had to change offensive coordinators/etc every year" are forgetting that if he came here, he'd be coming into a new offense and yes, would have to deal with a new offensive coordinator.

Plenty of free agent backups that wouldn't cost picks will become available after the draft. Every time some average(yes, Campbell is nothing but average) quarterback becomes available everyone here gets all jumpy and wants to get him. Just relax, we have until August to fill that need!

Word is that the redskins are going to rescind the 1st round tender placed upon Jason Campbell, thus making him a FA and free to sign wherever he wants. My guess is he will sign with Buffalo where he would be all but guaranteed the starting job. I do think the panthers need a veteran QB presence on the team, whether that be Campbell, or someone else.. a rookie QB should not be the primary backup on this team.

I am against the Panthers obtaining Jason Campbell..The last thing a young qb like Matt Moore needs is more pressure, thinking he's going to get yanked at the first pick.

If Matt Matt was a 1st round draft pick, and we had seen what we've seen from him so far, they would be writting that he's the next great young qb to go along with Flacco, Ryan or Sanchez.

Folks, the most important point here though,is that its Jason Campbell a qb that plays with about as much passion and drive as Julius Peppers and without the talent.

I for one,say let the speculation end.

Campbell would be here as a backup. If Moore can't understand we're just trying to improve our team and getting a quality backup and if he puts unneeded pressure on himself cause of that, then he doesn't belong being our starter.

You don't think turnover ratio or ints per attempt are important stats?

If he were in better health, Bulger is the kind of guy I could see going after, though I'd like a better option. We're looking for a Rodney Peete, not a David Carr.

Garrard I could see if he were let go and accepted the backup role.

And that's an important thing here. I don't think we're going to acquire our backup via trade. Release is way more likely.

yes they are important, i was saying alot of his INTs were because of the line. He did have alot of TDs too despite his line. And that his fumbles were due to his poor line, where Delhomme didnt have that excuse.

Well, we need to find someone with starting experience as a backup to Moore, and I think Campbell may have allot of untapped potential, so I would support going after him as long as the compensation was reasonable.

My biggest concern is that Campbell is damaged goods at this point. Not sure how much confidence he has left.

I with ya.

Sounds purely speculative. Where did you see that?

FYI: There's a distinct possibility the story is bogus. Witness...

PFT: Del Rio denies interest in Jason Campbell

The Jaguars were the most intriguing team disclosed as a possible Jason Campbell suitor this morning, but Jack Del Rio says the report isn't true.

The Jaguars coach said in a text to Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union that the team isn't interested in Campbell.

It's not difficult to see how both reports could be true. The radio report said that five teams showed interest. They didn't say at what level. Perhaps the Jaguars inquired about Campbell as due diligence, found out his cost, and quickly closed the matter.

Similar story could be said about the Panthers. Also possible that the Panthers talked to them about Jason Campbell last year or some other time in the past, and based on that the station (owned by Dan Snyder) reported them as being interested now when in reality they may not be.

There are reasons to doubt the veracity. Not the least of which are that Snyder would have an interest in drumming up a market with a story like this, and if it isn't true about the jags it might not be true about others.
