Panthers interested in Jason Campbell

We're not picking up Campbell... the cost to us would be too high and the payoff wouldn't be worth it. Buffalo, Jacksonville and Oakland would be much more likely landing zones for him. Each has more that they can put on the table in terms of draft picks.

We're more likely to call up Jeff George.

It was just a second-rounder and a third or fourth next year. That's no blockbuster deal and we might have gotten him cheaper since we're not a division rival.

Marty Hurney just needs to ask for your advice from now on, because you clearly knew the Eagles asking price from every team with your extensive connections around the NFL

My biggest concern is that Campbell is damaged goods at this point. Not sure how much confidence he has left.

And that why I don't want him. We saw what happend with Carr: damaged goods when he got to the team. We don't need another one like that in Campbell. For all we know, Campbell might never recovered his game anymore like Carr & Jake before they were release.

fits our needs better...

How you know he fit our needs better when he hasn't play our team yet? I didn't know you can see the future. Or maybe you stole the damn flying DeLorean. Great Scott! :P

Jake Delhomme went to the Pro Bowl before too... Your words speak for themselves...

Really? Smitty & Pep been to the Pro Bowl as well few times. You're going to compare McNabb's undeserved Pro Bowl last time to them as well as Jake too? But I rather we got McNabb than Campbell. ;)

I think this will be great and I hope we can pull it off. I expected us to be interested in him, so therefore, I also expected that we wouldn't show interest in him b/c it made sense, lol... So I'm ecstatic that we are.

I really hope we can do it. Campbell is a gamer. He's good, he's just had a rough stretch in Washington. The guy can play... He's had multiple coaches and systems and hasn't been able to just acclimate to one. He's had that oline to deal with, when even when they were good with a couple pro bowlers couldn't stay healthy... And for most of his tenure there, the core of his WRs were under 6 foot. All factors leading to some of his struggles there... And yet, you could see at times he was playing like a man possessed...

I know we have Moore, and I think he's gonna be good to great as well, but I feel like Campbell shores up that spot. Let them battle it out in TC. If the winner isn't the answer, we have a second option. And I don't want to hear that "well now Moore is looking over his shoulder..." It's the NFL, everyone is looking over their shoulder, they have to deal with it.

This has made this offseason so much more interesting and awesome. NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather have Garard than Campbell.

I love Garrard too, but I wouldn't rather have him over Campbell at this point. Garrard is among my favorite QBs but if we're hoping to bring in a guy that's somewhat proven, has ability, and has POTENTIAL, then Campbell is the guy b/c of his age. Garrard is 30+, which apparently is not what our FO is into, lol.

I just think with Campbell they can get more than what they bargain for if things don't pan out for Matt. With Garrard, we know what we're getting and it won't be for as long as we could have Campbell. No doubt, Garrard is a Top 15 Starter in my mind, and I still don't understand why Jax is looking to replace him though...

I am against the Panthers obtaining Jason Campbell..The last thing a young qb like Matt Moore needs is more pressure, thinking he's going to get yanked at the first pick.

If Matt Matt was a 1st round draft pick, and we had seen what we've seen from him so far, they would be writting that he's the next great young qb to go along with Flacco, Ryan or Sanchez.

Folks, the most important point here though,is that its Jason Campbell a qb that plays with about as much passion and drive as Julius Peppers and without the talent.

I for one,say let the speculation end.

Dunno about that. If anything, I think Matt Moore needs some competition during training camp and preseason. It can only help him.

And I can promise you that Campbell has passion. I don't know how many times he had to learn a new playbook, but he's done it throughout his whole career. So, obviously he's smart enough and passionate enough to learn a new playbook and be competitive.

Campbell sucks and is not worth a draft pick IMO. I hate trading for QBs that fail...it makes no sense.

Would anyone be willing to trade for DBs that have been in the league for 5 years and not have anything to show for it?? No...So why is it different for QBs? Its not as if the guy has been on the bench and hasn't been given the chance.

I had Campbell on my fantasy team last year, so I followed him very closely. He single handedly pull their collective arses out of the fire more than once. I think he can be very good in an offense that uses him properly, which, unfortunately, is not here. So, while I would love to have Campbell or Jackson here running an offense that was designed to fit their strengths, I don't see that happening with Fox as the head coach.

    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
