Lewis to the Pats

In continuing to try to improve their front seven, the New England Patriots reached an agreement Friday with former Panthers defensive tackle Damione Lewis, according to a league source.

The deal will be announced next week.

Interesting fit. He seems like more of a 1-gap 4-3 DT than a 2-gap 3-4 DE.

I really like D-Lew while he was here, wished he would've remained on our roster.... Good luck to him, but I hate the pats.

He played well for us when he was just a role player.

Would have been nice to have him back as a role player, and not a starter, but I wish him the best.

I hate it but he was not worth what we were paying him. We need a DT that can collapse the pocket.

My guess would be as RDE (depth) and possible as a 3rd down NT and good ol' UT when the Pats go to a 4-3 look.

We have guys that will fill in his leadership role. But he will be missed in my household. Always played well

The Pats used a 4-3 look last year to get more pressure and improve against the run from what I saw. He will fit into their scheme. Like us they go after other folks castaways and make them play pretty well. Lewis is better than folks here give him credit. If it weren't for the relatively big salary, we would have kept him.
