2010 Wes Welker Watch List

late round guys..

Freddie Barnes, WR, Bowling Green -- Barnes is another prospect overlooked by those who determine the combine invite list, but he had a solid week at the East-West Shrine Game and was a proven collegiate performer, with a mind-boggling, NCAA-record setting 155 catches in 2009. But his issue is speed. He didn't run well at his pro day, posting times in the 4.6-4.7 range, and is more of a possession-type receiver than home run threat. "He hasn't run well, but he was so productive you can't ignore him,'' one scout said. "He's very instinctive, and even at the tail end of the draft, I can see him doing something in the league.''

im sticking with emmanuel sanders as the slot guy that can light it up. like bess, another spread/jones wr that is quick. people forget welker had a sick 4.01 sec 20 yard shuttle time. what makes welker great is the change of direction and quick acceleration. sanders has that.

another is central michigan's antonio brown. was super productive at central michigan all 3 years. good KR/PR too. most have heard of him by now.

my favorite 7/udfa prospect is stephen williams by a mile. i'll keep beating that drum too. i cant understand how last year a guy like ramses barden got so much more love than williams. i loved barden too, but williams had all around better triangle numbers, and is only 1 inch shorter. broke lance moores records at toledo. everyone questioned his speed, like barden. and just like barden he put that to rest with a a nice little 4.5 40. he outperformed the draft forum's fast riser's carlton mitchell in everything put the 40 (faster splits at 10 and 20 yards though). now he needs a ton of work at running routes, but the messurables and production is there (even with qb issues all year). not just a workout warrior with the production for 3 straight years (70 + catches, 1k yards in 2 of them).
