I would love him in as a returner. He can find teh holes and gaps better than anyone I've ever seen. As a CB....ehhh with the right coaching he could be effective, but he is no where near being a starting NFL CB right now. He wasn't that great of a CB in college.

One word, stud. I liked this kid more every game I saw him play as a returner.

Personally, I would rather use our 3rd to address our ST return need. All this talk of a DE or DT makes sense, don't get me wrong. Just an opinion. That being said, starting our drives over the 30 or 40 on an average would be lethal. A shorter field plays into our hands, with a young QB and our backfield, without question.

Furthermore, starting with a short field on offense ensures that our opponents would be buried deep into their own territory on drives where we fail to score but still move the chains. Only helps to give our D and young guys in the trenches some room to make those rookie mistakes or mental lapses, while still being in position to make the next play and not play timid while facing a drive by the offense.

Overall, I'd like to see the Panthers address the WR with our first pick,regardless of where it'll be due to trades etc. (That is, if the best player available isn't a guy projected top 20 who somehow fell. In that case, it would be in our best interest.) Following that pick, our 2nd should be a versatile threat at the return game. At this point, whether he is a WR or CB, his help at his natural position is valuable to our depth at those positions. 3rd, address the DE or DT position. With the following picks in not particular order, I'd like to continue to seek filling holes and adding depth to our WR and defensive unit. Oh, and QB project somewhere in the midst couldn't hurt either:D

I've always liked him, but the feeling I get from Mayock was that he doesn't have a lot of potential as a starting CB b/c he doesn't have very good top-end speed. Even watching him, it's clear that he is quicker than he is fast, which may not be a bad thing.

And he dominated in the last game I watched him in, most games I watched him in actually... I would like to get him but he'll probably be gone in the 2nd or 3rd.

He's a little taller than Cap'n at 5'9. he isnt the fastest CB ever, but like you said...in a cover 2 he's a beast. I'd love to pick him up in the 3rd if we got our WR in the 2nd. trade marshall for an extra 2nd, take a WR and a DE/DT in the 2nd and in the 3rd take Javy. let him battle for the nickel job. might have to move Sherrod Martin to CB if he's good enough to be a starter to compete with Cap'n for the #2 job.

If we use a 3rd round pick on a slow undersized CB I will throw things. Maybe a 4th, I would prefer a 6th round pick for him.
