The Panthers have a true magician on the team

This is going to be the Seventh year with this guy...SEVEN!!

It just dawned on me that Ian Thomas is the 3rd longest tenured player on offense/defense, only behind Taylor Moton and Shaq Thompson (4th if you include special teams' JJ Jansen).

In fairness he hasn’t had a great environment with how many different ineffective QBs throwing to him. Even Cam, it was his decline and never got any better after with the others. Still hasn’t.

How many different OCs and position coaches? Oh well, he has a few games to turn that around while Sanders is marinating.

Yeah, it is the same story every year with him, so I expect nothing from him once the games start.  Hell, even Tremble makes poo happen in actual games with way less touches and opportunities...

But, I will say this...  I think it's entirely possible that the staffs just did not know how to utilize TEs AT ALL in games, and maybe he will finally put it together under one like Canales, that does.  Just like I said earlier in the offseason that Tremble is a damn good football player, he just needed the opportunities...  I still maintain that as of today, Tremble is the best TE on the roster and has enormous potential...  but the fact that Greg Olsen still vouches for Thomas to this day tells you it's not just smoke.  He knows if a guy can play or not...  and think about how bad other guys on offense have looked the last few years because of how dysfunctional everything was.

When it comes to Thomas, I'm not holding my breath.  But I also won't be surprised if he comes out of nowhere with a crazy productive year.

Ian Thomas, training camp HOFer.

Well, I know that if our rookie doesn't beat this dude out(over the season), we got another wasted pick on our hands.

I know that if Canales buys into this BS, we got another bust coach on our hands.

This is one of the most predictable things in every Panthers pre-season. Ian Thomas somehow convincing coaches that he is an NFL player.

The thing that has always impressed me most about him is his inability to ever gain any yardage after contact.

The thing that has always impressed me is how he’s regarded as a great blocker (that’s why we rewarded him with a 2nd deal) and yet every blocking highlight is when he gets beat like a drum by DBs and edge rushers.

This also comes back to our good friend Fitt. He traded, drafted and signed FAs so well that that talent drain has left Thomas to stand out because there’s nothing else. Who on offense has he had to outshine? Tremble? Darnold, Corral and Young? Hubbard and Sanders? Chark? Marshall and Mingo? We traded away DJ and CMC. We’ve never replaced Cam. Brooks hasn’t arrived yet. Legette’s been dealing with his hammy so far. Between the trades and health of the rookies, all you have to do is catch a ball or like Corral did, throw a ball into a net to get noticed.
