As the football-following world watches and waits for Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to move to a new team, a trade could soon be occurring in Philly -- but not involving McNabb.

Clark Judge of CBSSports.com reports that the Eagles are close to sending cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to the Browns, either for a draft pick and a player or two draft picks and a backup.

Per Judge, the deal hinges on Brown getting a new contract. Judge also says the deal was expected to be completed by now.

Gocong, a restricted free agent, recently signed his tender offer, making him eligible to be dealt. Brown has wanted a new contract, ever since the team extended cornerback Joselio Hanson, if not earlier.

I love how Holmgren has really shook up things in Cleveland though he still needs to draft a QB to develop. He cant be satisfied with Delhomme and Wallace

this. although I'd take Eric Berry in the 1st, then a QB in the 2nd like Colt McCoy. they have 2 great young-up and coming recievers in Robiske and Massaquoi

Grrrrrrrrr........I would rather lose Asante Samuel than Sheldon. Sheldon is one of the few physical guys we have left on that defense. Seems the Eagles are in the identical mode of the Panthers.........

A 2008 7th pick of the Browns..knowing the Eagles coaching staff, they will be able to get the most out of him though. Essentially traded Gocong for him and got a 4th & 5th round pick for a 31 year old corner.
