Chatmandoo resigned!

Our future RHD room had a ton of question marks going into this offseason, glad we took care of 1 spot already. It's a good price and term for Chatty. Very good chance he outplays this deal but there is some risk of it being a slight overpayment for a guy more suited for the 3rd pair. If he and Orlov as expected wind up being our 2nd pair, I'm confident and comfortable in them being an above average 2nd pair, but we do have to see it first. It was ridiculous having them as a 3rd pair last year, though really too bad Pesce got hurt in the playoffs.

I don't think this rules out keeping Pesce necessarily but he probably walks. So we've got Burns, Chatty, Morrow next year. Not terrible if we keep the big forward guns like Guentz and Necas but if we don't we definitely still need to add to the RHD group IMO. Morrow ideally plays most of next year in the AHL. And Burns' play slipped down the stretch last year and he's going to be a year older and is already the oldest player in the league.

I don't want to trade Necas but if we do, barring him being just 1 piece in a big forward upgrade, I hope we get a legit cost controlled top 4 RHD back.

They looking for high level star power providing prospects for Necas. There’s 6 teams in the mix for him but no ones is meeting the asking price. Pesce has been gone, they tried to extend him last offseason and he declined because he wants more than 5x5AAV.

turbo is 6m aav for 2-3 years. Jarvis is 7.75 aav and then chatfield at 3AAV. That leaves 10m in space and 6-7 roster spots.

keep expectations down unless they hit on the Necas deal and can move KK with him.

Pesce leaving is a forgone conclusion and I can't say the same for Skjei. Unfortunately, this team is built on defensive scoring, and if the 2nd D pair is indeed Orlov and Chatty, there will be a huge drop-off there.

Chatty is a great move. Been saying for a long time he's playing at a 2nd pair level. I'm more concerned with Orlov's lapses and turnovers for the amount of money he's getting. I'd rather get Skjei back and put Chatty on the 2nd pair with him.

In this scenario they better hit on Necas - KK is probably unmovable with that ridiculous contract, and it looks like they need the prospects in the pipe line to fill the roster. I'd like to keep Skjei if at all possible

I don't think Necas or Guentzel stays. Sorry, there is absolutely no indication that there's a chance either of them stays unless there are some serious and very quiet talks going on. And, as good as Waddell was at keeping things close to the vest and out of the press, I'm not sure how that continues.

But, I'll gladly eat some crow if the Canes manage to keep just one of the 2. I just don't think the bank account allows for it.

They almost had kk tied to Necas at the trade deadline. So it’s possible and I believe it’s one of the things they are trying to do with the Necas trade. Canes will probably retain some of his salary but not a lot of it and get a haul for Necas at the same time.

I will dislike losing Necas but if we can unload KK too, that would be worthwhile.

It gives us a ton of flexibility moving forward.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
