Or you are making assumptions that something meaningful has changed? The criticism was earned and with how they drafted there is likely more lined up.

No, I'm just waiting to see what we have this year without making assumptions. Any Panthers fan, if not NFL fan, knows that you don't truly know what you have until some point after the season begins. Add in the development necessary at some positions, and it could take a few years.

It wasn't so long ago that people were calling Brown a bust.

I'm waiting to see what happens. That being said, if Bryce doesn't get his act together a lack of clarity will probably be cast upon many.

Can't be impactful if he can't get on the field. Even if he did he would be # 3 this year anyways. They needed to be focusing on the now and worry about the future if they want to keep their jobs, it's a luxury no one in that house can afford except the owners. The last HC didn't make it 1 season and no one has lasted more than 3 since Tepper showed up doing very similar stuff. But please go on like the people criticizing this isn't based in recent facts. Also comparing this guy to CMC is delusive AF. CMC could block and catch as a healthy (played 16 and started 10) rookie.

I get being tired of the criticism and anger that is touching every angle of the organization at this point but it's as surprising as this guy not being ready yet...which is the base of the criticism given the RB room he isn't ready to help to improve much right now is he?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over the same way expecting different results. So just because all of the previous GMs and coaches were fired instantaneously, Morgan and Canales shouldn't try to build for the future? That is about as asinine a thought as a fan would have. Is it not your hope that Tepper will let this GM build a team and not lose his mind during the long needed rebuild? We all hope this team can compete this year, but do you expect a deep playoff run? We still have Sanders and Chuba, so drafting a back who will be better than both of them and sitting him is fine. Lastly,  not only is reading fundamental, so is comprehension. I was talking about the dichotomus devaluing of the running back position by the masses while also knowing they are still very valuable in building a potent offense. Nobody was comparing him to the RB gawd CMC! Still a little funny he is continuing to get paid handsomely when other RBs are being devalued, but that's neither here nor there. I'm just glad all of those injury issues he had here have seemingly cleared up almost completely.

Dealing with the now and building a foundation to build a future upon would have been a great sign of change and a serious attempt to turn this thing around. Those guys that were all fired were also pitching the future. Rhule's 7 year plan and last year's platoff team while taking a still weak NFCS were just more of the same. You already answered you own question. 2 win teams don't usually develop projects well, stable and well run teams do. That is not close to the Panthers at this time.

The future doesn't matter if it looks like the recent past for them.

Minimal concerns here. We have several serviceable backs sans Brooks with a RBBC approach. Though Penny won't be relied upon heavily, his signing is now looking like a solid move.

I'd rather have a fully healthy Brooks for 8 games than rush him along to start the season. He always was a long-term piece, not a 2024 piece, IMO.

Was this not expected? Who here actually thought a RB who tore his ACL in November was going to be ready for training camp?

Look back at the thread. Lots of dummies here did apparently as laughable as it is.

This ain’t breaking news.  The return to field stats on ACLs are what they are…and this was talked about when we drafted him.   In season should be our first looks at him.

There were tons of pre and post draft articles saying he’d be ready at the start of camp. What “ready” meant is up for interpretation but this news did feel like a bit of a setback. Again, doesn’t matter much for this year. As long as he shows that he’s going to easily beat out Hubbard/Sanders (he should) for the starting role and finishes the season healthy, it’s fine.

Beat writer Alex Zietlow said on mac and bone that Canales had said previously he expected Brooks to be ready for camp and now not so much.  Said it was hard to know what he meant by needing some time or their status for camp.  So this is a bit different from what they thought earlier

But I wouldn't call Brooks your quintessential project; he's a talented back that needs to convalescence in order to get on the field. Playing RB is honestly one of the easiest positions to learn relative to some others (even linemen). It's even easier if you already have good fundamentals as it pertains to blocking (which Brooks has displayed). I don't see Brooks as a project as much as I see him as a gamble due to his injury, and he isn't even a big gamble if NFL doctors are correct about their prognosis.

    • 5-12. Bryce Young- hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.  I think we could end up seeing a lot of Dalton this year.
    • Yeah, kinda how a few of us predicted every game would look like Alabama vs Texas where he was actually under NFL style pressure.
