Bryce's dad is a psychologist, I think they would know and understand how to manage personalities and know when and what to say when the time is right.

wow.  You know folks on the huddle are desperate when this sort of shi is being used to pump themselves up.

This is perspective and I think Canales’ dad was a shrink. His description of this lack of urgency which we see is ‘cold blooded’. Not excited just surgical.  Also, the 1 of 11 while a smart way to go, is also a pretty big smoke job probably intended to take pressure off of the QB.,

But which is it? I don’t think we were looking at cold blooded killer last year. Maybe he can kill something, but he is up against a lot.

I am going to have to defend him somewhat on the leadership though because it was his first season and his play was not strong enough for him to start putting people on notice or any talk at all. And his voice... and he looks like a kid. It would probably hurt him more than help him in to be rah rah in that situation. Just grind.

I feel like Bryce's quiet is almost a reflection of his lack of confidence or belief in himself. He looked afraid and timid most of the season last year. I hope this changes if he is to have any chance of leading the team. He seems like a very nice dude so I feel for him and hope he can overcome.

1st priority: play a lot better

All other priorities start somewhere down here.

Critiquing Bryce for his quiet laid-back demeanor is like complaining about the color of the front door on a house with a crumbling foundation and holes in the roof.

No one is gonna care about Bryce being quiet and laid back if he's playing well and we're winning football games. Quite to the contrary. People will start calling him "the silent assassin" or some other cringy moniker. Just play well and keep your nose clean off the field. All the rest is just bullshit.

i love people with no medical experience making tenuous assumptions based on, uh, the fact his dad sucked in every practical lab in med school and had to go into psychiatry

its fun to think of what these same fans would be saying with any other profession

"well his dad was a cardiologist so obviously he knows how to stay calm."

"well his dad was a neurologist so oviously he keeps his brain waves at a low level and isn't at risk of seizure, which is good (obviously)."

"well his dad is a surgeon so he knows how to overcome his lack of confidence over height."

"well his dad was a pediatrician so that's why he looks like a child, but kids don't get injured easily and have limitless potential so-"

Indeed.  If you’re struggling mightily with your own on field performance, you’re in no position to exhort or call out someone else.  Just grind and let your own performance speak for itself.

The western world is full of people that would follow a loud extrovert off a cliff before following a confident introvert that weighs things out.

It’s sad.

Some of the best leaders of our time were quiet but strong leaders by example. High ranking military, doctors, scientists, inventors, and musicians are vastly dominated by these types. And presidents like Lincoln.

It really makes no difference and isn’t an indicator of anything but damn does western culture love their loud mouths.

I think you've taken my comment out of context as well. I never implied that his father being a psychologist would make him a better leader or make him a psychologist. If your dad is a lawyer, you're more likely to be exposed to law. If your dad is a doctor you're more likely to be exposed to medicine that's all.

My question is, why did you take my comment that way?

Bryce also has a degree in psychology.

He has an uncanny ability to compartmentalize things in a way that allows him to enter his second NFL season with optimism that he can still be the player who was worthy of being the No. 1 pick of the 2023 draft despite the kind of rookie year that has destroyed others in his position.

Young credits that in part to his past. He graduated from the University of Alabama in three years with a degree in psychology. His father was a therapist in the mental health field for 20 years. His mother was a special education teacher, and his grandfather was a psychologist.

Thanks for posting this. I made the previous post not even knowing that he graduated with psychology.

    • I really think that he will end up being a coach in some capacity for the Hornets in the near future. Only reason I say this, is he was at the introductory press conference for Coach Lee last week.
    • I think 4 with some luck. I don't see us putting upwards of 25-30 points consistently so it's gonna take some winning of turnover battles to squeak out some wins
