Clowney on Bryce Young

Recommended Posts

It doesn't matter if he's quiet and not a rah rah in your face guy. His teammates will respond if he proves he can help them win. Honestly, being super vocal without having proven anything would be more of a negative than a positive.

Ain't nobody trying to hear from the second year sales guy who's never hit a quota in his life. STFU and do something before you wanna say something. Just because you can rattle off a bunch of specs doesn't mean poo. It ain't helped you sell anything as far as I can tell.

Just like Clowney said, the team feeds off of the energy of the QB. The fact that Bryce is soft-spoken doesn't bother me, but he has to be saying, first, something that  materially matters, and, second, in a manner---soft spoken or not---that inspires his teammates.

This seemed to be what the Teppers wanted, as Stroud hit the ground running and the Texans became his team almost day one. I hope Bryce's play starts to speak for itself if he isn't very vocal, because it does make a difference. I mean, Cam had to jack up Josh Norman who was a fifth round pick in the coach's doghouse in year five! I wonder what Bryce would do in a situation like that. Thank goodness there was no Steve Smith here when he was drafted!

What does Bryce's dad being a psychologist have to do with anything?  Does phycologist proximity make everyone within the aura also qualified to be a phycologist?  Could you just visit a phycologist and become one or does he need to be your Dad?  Are all phycologist equal?  Do any have their own baggage or bias or all they all just perfectly balanced human opinions because they have an education?

Also I'm fairly confident, that "Because my Dad said so" doesn't garner much respect in the huddle.

Beyond that, I think you're reading Clowney's response wrong anyway.  I think he's saying in the kindest way possible that BY9 hasn't taken command of the team.

I think you've taken my comment out of context as well. I never implied that his father being a psychologist would make him a better leader or make him a psychologist. If your dad is a lawyer, you're more likely to be exposed to law. If your dad is a doctor you're more likely to be exposed to medicine that's all.

My question is, why did you take my comment that way?

This thread really shows who the morons are, dude hasn't been around bryce for more than 24hours when this was reported and people with low iq still took it and ran with it. Glad to finally see people expose themselves.

You don’t know if Clowney talked with other people on the team and was told things... but even if not it doesn’t take a long time to see this about Young.

Yeah this is Clowney's 6th NFL team, I'm pretty sure he can get a read on a starting qb's vibe pretty quickly.

Your exact words were "Bryce's dad is a psychologist, I think they would know and understand how to manage personalities and know when and what to say when the time is right."

I mean your directly saying that you think his Dad and by extension Bryce should know how to manage personalities in the context of a thread questioning his leadership.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.  If his Dad's profession and whatever influence it's had on Bryce has brought us to the point that we're debating the veracity Clowney's remarks then clearly there's a bridge to be built.

Having a loud voice doesn't always mean you're a good leader. Everyone has different personalities. Class clowns are loud and obnoxious, that doesn't mean they were the brightest or greatest. Bryce's dad is a psychologist, I think they would know and understand how to manage personalities and know when and what to say when the time is right.

Bryce isn’t a psychologist though. Leaders lead and Bryce is being called out for his lack of leadership. There was talk of how he isn’t vocal enough, but they also said they needed his leadership.

As you said, we'll just have to agree to disagree. There's always room for mis-interpretiation.

i will never forget his multiple end of game drives where the panthers were down like 14 points or so and there was just NO urgency at all. like he either didn't care, or didn't understand the situation, or was happy to just keep checking it down and walking back to the line. unreal.

    • 5-12. Bryce Young- hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.  I think we could end up seeing a lot of Dalton this year.
    • Yeah, kinda how a few of us predicted every game would look like Alabama vs Texas where he was actually under NFL style pressure.
