Offseason Topic: Most Under Appreciated Panther

I'll take 1 each from our best years:

I always liked Deon Grant back there with Minter.  Don't remember the offseason moves back in those days as much, but we just kind of let him test the market after his rookie deal.  I was a fan.

And from 2015 I'd agree with Addison.  He was consistent and played his role well.  Good shout out.

Deon Grant is the second-best (excluding one year wonders) safety Carolina has ever had. That says more about Carolina's abysmal safety history than is does Deon, but he was a quality player in the league for many years.

What are you guys talking about about? Dude has been on the team for 2 years of a 3 year, $15M team-friendly contract at half the cost of Vonn Bell. You make it sound like he's been toiling in Carolina for years... dude hardly underappreciated by anyone that pays attention.

It's a thread about under appreciated players and you made the argument for him being under appreciated while disagreeing?

No, it's that he's not underappreciated at all, with a side of responding to the comment that made it sound like he's been here forever. Will be interesting to see what they do with him after this season.

Look around the league, no safety is safe. Look at the current FAs it feels half of them are safety. He's had alllll different DCs and HCs, but remained for the new staff at the cut point of his contract. The defense did struggle when he was missing.

The point of the thread was to name a over looked/under-appreciated player.

I said Sam Franklin was my current pick, but Woods is a good pick as well. He's a true FS and those are harder to find than SS in this passing league. I don't remember him giving up any big plays either. They had a huge communication problem before woods was signed, he was the driving force at fixing that.

They kept Woods that’s enough for me. I like Evero and Morgan and if they are in, I’m in. I trust them pretty much.

You know I just realized what a good spot we might be in with Morgan and Canales being tight. Morgan has that defensive mentality and can interface with the coordinator. Maybe better than Canales can. But is aligned with the offensive vision as well. I hate to be overly optimistic off of unproven stuff so let’s just call it an observation.
