Least excitment before any season?

Recommended Posts

I have almost zero interest at this point. I have no desire to go to a game, watch one unless there's nothing else to do, or buy clearance merchandise for $0.01. Until this team can actually do something, anything, to prove it's marching towards success, there's no point in investing any emotion other than an enthusiastic "fug Tepper."

Where does this season rank as the least amount of excitement before any Panthers season?  To me, its dead last.  i just dont see any hope unless Canales pulls 2002 john fox  moves.  Speaking of, that season I have zero hope going into it  but ended giving me some after 1-15 to 7-9.  Same with 2010 but we at least knew we had Cam.

What say everyone?

It's definitely the least. I have come out of the fog of expecting Tepper to learn and real change to happen. I am settled into expecting us to fumble and bumble our way through the next decade or so.

This is nothing like going into 2010 when everyone knew John was a dead man walking.

Im actually cautiously optimistic

you know what, now that I think about it.....I can't use to 2010 as my #2 season behind 2022.   Matt Moore was 6-2 going in and slated to start off the season.   So yeah, I believed he could get the ball to 89 and it would at least be an entertaining .500ish season.  The feeling change the day Fox went to Clausen so that was more in season for me.

So 2024 is now my #2 behind 2022

2010 has no comparision. Even before 2009 was over, everyone knew we were deliberately sabotaging the 2010 season because of the (then) impending NFL lockout. JR did everything to do 2010 on the cheap which meant lame duck coach and lame duck roster. Even the prospect of getting the first pick was blunted of the uncertainty of even having a 2011 season period.

89 was still in his prime entering that season.  That's what makes the Fox and Ron era hard.  Because even when you didn't think we could win, you thought you could be entertained.  Superstar factor.

I've just lost interest in the NFL as a whole. MLB will always be my favorite, but now I'm looking forward to college football more than the NFL, and I'm slowy getting into the NHL. This may be my first ever season where I don't watch every Panthers game and won't bother to watch NFL just because it's on TV.

I wonder who could, with complete honesty, say that in June of 03 they were excited about the prospects.

Foxy hadnt worn out his welcome but he had found mediocrity after Siefert had us below the basement

Rodney Pete was out starter

We had 89 and Moose but was anybody doing backflips over Rickey that June?

Kris was a monster and Jules hadnt started taking plays off but did anyone think they were all that?

Signed a Davis that was a shadow of his Pro Bowl seasons.

Mr Run Run Pass Punt himself was calling the offense.

You just never know who will catch fire when.

I expected to hate the coach and GM decisions. I don't.  I think they're smart enough to move on from Bryce if he doesn't improve dramatically. So, hopeful for the next 2-3 years

go find a random 10-14 year old Panther fan and ask them who the best player is on the Panthers.

that answer will sum up why there is no excitement in Pantherland.

I don't know how yall remember how you felt during an offseason.  I always have hope during the offseason.  I will say that last year was the most depressing season for me.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
