After "humbling" second season, Ikem Ekwonu ready to take advantage of a new offense

I think fans want the #1 overall pick, who had a rough first year that some exposed issues......to not take his first offseason completely off of football.

and while Luke is an outlier.  I think Bryce's first NFL offseason given what he is.....probably makes him a bit of one too.   Because I don't think his offseason, is a very common approach by those that have been in his shoes.

There's nothing wrong with getting away from your job on your time off. I know I don't answer work calls or pull out the laptop when I'm on vacation. Looking at him it's obvious he did some strength and conditioning work.

I am gonna guess we aren't gonna see much of BC outside of being a backup, which is really where he will be the most valuable.

My guess is they believe in that GB FA signing more.

Ikey has to do the work necessary to be great. For all the people saying he should switch to LG, well he is still going to need to work there too. He needs to figure that stuff sooner rather than later or he is gonna be out of the league a lot more quickly than he realizes.

Talent can't get you there as a pro football player. Only hard work can.

The BC thing was worst case. Seems like he should beat out what an UDFA (I didn't see anyone else thst I can remember) in that scenario where Ickey flops hard again.

100% on the work. That and coaching should get him to decent. I liked the work he did in year 1 but he took a giant step back last year. Hopefully he steps it up big time.

Talent just is a necessity in the NFL just as hard work for success is also.

Right his arms are noticeably bigger. There mare clips or him working with ISM in the gym and throwing passes. People are stuck in their opinions and it’s going to be polarizing until he either plays up to expectations or gets replaced. I mean last offseason he was working with his WRs and it was just a “PR stunt”. It’s like the news, people are going to spin comments/interviews however they need to in order to push their views/agenda.

Luke Kuechly went fishing.  Cam Newton traveled.  Tom Brady went to fancy events.   Bryce Young's answer remains...a bad one.   It's not what you would consider the "norm" answer for someone in his position.  Simple as that.

Look at his most comparable peer.  What was CJ Stroud doing?  He was organizing throwing sessions and team building with his WRs.   Two QBs clearly wired different.  Both went to bad teams.  Two drastically different results thus far.

Bryce Young just doesn't display so much of the textbook stuff you are looking from your "franchise QB".   Especially one a team mortgaged their future on.

Yet, he looks like he has attacked the gym. He assimilated what he can.

Yet all i see is more pitching.

Seems like it can be backed off at least until regular season, but I know it won't.

The huddle isn't ever happy.

I predict that he won't be the only question mark on this OL.

I am rather skeptical of that unit overhaul.

The complete lack of an actual 1st or 2nd string center is going to bite them in the backside early and often. Depending on a guy that's never played center other than some practice snaps and maybe a few series in preseason games is just asking for trouble. There's a reason no other coach has played Corbett at center during a game in college or the NFL and that's because he's not good enough despite being "too smart" to play guard or tackle.

team boasts about fixing the interior OL

same team doesn't have an actual NFL C on the roster

Seems about right.

we have the worst owner in all of professional sports, we have the worst winning % since he took over, we have made some catastrophic level mistakes how is this a foreign concept to you.  Give us something to be happy about

I think what needs to be understood is that for a player like bryce he needs to put in as much work as possible to be a success in the league. He isnt just another typical player with all the disadvantages he has but it sounds he sees himself the same as everybody else. If that was truly forreal he would have competed at the combine with all the other prospects in my opinion. If he doesnt think he needs to work that much harder than everybody else just to be a success in the pros that would be concerning.

Julian Edelman literally traveled around the country so that he could make any throw sessions Brady would have in the offseason.  He wanted to even be able to catch the quicker and impromptu ones.

CJ Stroud has been with his WRs all offseason doing stuff and holding throwing sessions.

I mean, the norm is the norm.  Bryce talking about being a loner and unplugging all offseason from football just isn't what you typically hear and see from elite NFL QBs.

The CJ Stroud throwing session thing? Where did you find this?

I’ve seen him throwing with Diggs and his WRs that one day where they were invited to play with that Madden video streamer.  I also see where the first thing Stroud said he would do is take some time off. I keep seeing this being posted so I’m assuming I’m missing something?

"First, I'm going to relax," Stroud said. "Take some time off. I've been going hard since I was like 12 years old. AAU tournaments, baseball, football, 7-on-7, high school, a ton of sports being played. It's been a blessing. It's been a ball. I'm 22 years old, and this is my first time ever having freedom away from school, away from college. So I'm excited. But at the same time, just like I'm ready to relax, I'm ready to get back to work, too. But I have to take some time to myself. It's just the right thing to do."

Quarterback Case Keenum, who just completed his 12th NFL season, said a mental "recharge" and unwinding a bit is of the utmost importance. Especially in regards to the gauntlet Stroud just completed over the last 18 months or so.
