he missed 1 FG under 50 all season last year.

he missed 2 FG under 50 the year prior

and made most of his 50+ both seasons

I think Pinero is just wanting off the worst team in the NFL.   Competitive teams are looking for a reliable kicker.  Seems like he is just playing that card.

Don't forget the 5 missed Extra Points.

(2nd most in the NFL last year btw)

That's just not smart. Other than a handful of truly elite kickers in the league everyone else at the position is viewed as completely replaceable. They're obviously going to bring in other kickers and all it takes is for one to show a lot of promise for you to get told to hit the bricks and now you're just one of the guys being brought in somewhere else just hoping to win a job.

kicker is weird about the value it carries. Darrin has said what you did and I agree unless the team is a upper playoff or just firm playoff roster. If its a solid team, you need to have one of those top kickers. The pressure is totally different kicking in a 14-3 playoff game than a end of season 1-14 game.

Kickers' value is based loads on the type of team they are on.

Plus I've always maintained its beyond dumb to waste draft picks on kicker, punter, or LS. Like you said there's the elite and bunch of guys ranked 10-25 and then 20 more in tier 3. Teams are always cutting good ones for whatever reasons as well.

I make the similar statements about backup QB. WHo cares about the backup on a 5-12 team..... but if the roster is stacked, its your top job to get a great backup QB. I'd even say its a top 10 position on a playoff team.

Everyone thinks it was Brady was the reason for those playoff wins and Superbowls, but I member Adam Vinatieri winning plenty of those games(ugh..). Justin Tucker is another example and he's finally got old this past year. KC has a elite one too........ It's a super important part if the whole team is playoff bound.

I kinda feel the opposite. 6th and 7th round picks are basically the NFL equivalent of a scratch off lottery ticket. If you need a kicker or punter it's not a bad investment if there's a good rookie available. What other positions are you going to be able to get the best prospect available at that point in the draft?

those 6th and 7ths, go ALL-IN or focus on OG, DB, and LB. The hit ratio for those three groups is much higher than others. I mean rookie kickers are no better than the street FAs. TB drafted one in the 2nd round and he ended up on panthers and five other teams shortly.

The "all-in" part is the Greg Hardy's and stefon diggs guys. Even a guys that has some injuries, that at one point was ranked as a 2nd rounder. Just take higher risks at that point or go for the solid OG, LB, or DB. If you find a starting CB, its 20x the worth of a "starting" kicker that is one year away from getting cut.

After sanders my next favorite pick was Michael Barrett, I think he's got a similar chance to replace Shaq same as the 3rd rounder wallance. I loved what the pats did when they drafted milton with maye, that's how you use the late rounders. The waste is drafting a guy that is out-played by a young street FA.

Shows 3 last year.  One of those was a 40+ yard XP.

end of the day, he has been a solid kicker the last 2 years.   K hasn’t been a weakness

Eddy has a solid accurate leg but his lack of elite power is what concerns me. It's clear the past couple of coaching staffs didn't have trust in him with any kick slightly over 50 yards. He's not good enough to not be in a competition but if he wins the job then most of us here won't have an issue with it. I just would prefer a kicker to at least have the ability to make a 60 yarder so if we are at an end of the half or a game we can have a shot to steal some points or a win.

With the new kickoff rules you need someone with enough leg to get it close to the endzone but stay in bounds as well.

5 in the 2 year span you'd originally referenced.

The 40+ yarder was part of the ATL fiasco 2 years ago.

Last year he made 86% of his FGs and 85% of his XPs. That's good for 22nd and dead last in the NFL respectively.

You can say Kicker hasn't been a weakness but it sure as hell hasn't been a strength.

Now dude wants to hold out for more money? Good luck on your next venture. Theres a reason he was passed around the league before he landed here.

Kicker is the one position we consistently get right.  If we could find every other position like we find kickers, we'd have a dynasty.

Guess we’re not watching the same team. I haven’t trusted a Kicker since Kasay had the job.
