Person reported our board was Bryce AR then Stroud.   Fitt was fired but morgan remains.  Pretty pretty nuts if we are being honest

McClain reported that Houston would have drafted Young if they got the top pick. So you don’t believe that report, but you believe this one?

Well one is retired and one isn't so there's that.

So he has no connections now that he is retired? Why would he need to make up stories if he is retired?

He was speculating.   He clearly says "I think........"

And Ryans saying that Young and Stroud were their top two without saying who his top choice was? If it was Stroud and he got Stroud he should have no trouble saying so.
It’s just one of the many cases of parroting the voices that back your opinion and disregarding the ones that don’t. We all do it.

Meh, I like Dan Morgan and I don't claim to know what went on in the building. Someone working under someone doesn't mean they are exactly the same. I've replaced people and have done a better job even though they taught me and brought me up in the role/org.

Plus how awesome as a fan to have a legend LB turn GM and take the team where it needs to be.

Not that it matters, I wanted AR #1 and remember there were people in the building that really wanted him.

This next part is all conjecture on my part : I remember last year Steve Smith talking about people in the building wanted AR and something about how/what he said made me think it was Dan Morgan. I tried to find the clip real quick on Youtube but no luck. Once again, complete conjecture on my part LOL.

Consensus.  Was the word they were peddling for Bryce.  Unanimous throughout the building is what they said.  Everyone, literally everyone was on board for Bryce.  Which is obviously complete horseshit.  But yeah I am like you, how can morgan, who has played ball all his life and it was his job to hurt people like bryce, look at him and say "damn he would make a fine qb to trade up for"?

Ahhh I don't know about that either. I don't think it has to be one or the other. Consensus probably did happen but that doesn't literally mean there weren't varying opinions. It just means when it was all weighed together Young was the one. Like @Mage was saying QB is a crap shoot but Bryce Young was going top 3 at worst, that was known to everyone. Its still TBD if it works out with Young or not. We will all know by November.

Man no kidding, and that’s what I thought about Reich too.

It really confuses me when I am told that it was unanimous. I just cannot wrap my brain around guys who know how big a jump it is, being in favor of it.

And how good a liar Reich was. I thought he was supposed to be a real moral guy, but at the same time I think he was lying through his teeth,.

I literally said in my other post that we still deserve criticism, so what are you talking about?  Do you even know what my initial post was about?  Never once did I say it was okay to draft a bust because other teams draft busts.

Mods, feel free to put me in my place if I'm going too far.  But it needs to be said.

Some of you need to start reading posts in full instead of making it ALL about Bryce every single damn time.  Ultimately my point was that drafting QBs is hard, and if it wasn't the Panthers mistake, it would have been another teams.  Just like Trey Lance, just like Mac Jones, just like Blake Bortles, just like Blaine Gabbert,... I can go on and on.

Yes, Panthers screwed up (assuming Bryce doesn't improve).  Yes, we should be criticized.  But it happens.  The guy asked how it happens and I was just answering his question.  That teams miss on QBs every year, because getting a QB is hard and teams will take every opportunity they can to get one.

But I'm not about to sit and discuss this with someone who thinks Levis even had .001% chance of going ahead of Bryce.  That tells me all I need to know.  No reasonable person would even throw him in the discussion.

The whole point is that neither you nor I have any idea what the Texans would or wouldn't have done, and unlike some posters I'm not pretending that I do. I'm simply acknowledging possibilities. And since the post you're referencing popped up AFTER the one I responded to and in response to someone else no, that wasn't part of what I read. That's just the nature of message board conversations sometimes.

only guesses I feel safe making, is Frank wanted CJ.  Tepper wanted Bryce.  Now, who was on whose side in the org when they debated? Who knows.  Well, we know Mrs. Tepper was buying what the CJ folks were saying per the same reporter that had the Frank/Tepper split.

part of me feels, the CJ Stroud crowd.....all saw the door.

Logical inference.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
