Underdog 2nd year QB preview

His accuracy is better than most.

Try again.

The on field NFL tape begs to differ.

He may have been somewhat accurate in college (but never on deep passes he has always been wildly inaccurate on those) , but he was terrible last season at almost every measurable for an NFL QB.

The dude couldn't even complete over 60% of his passes against NFL competition with an average ypa of 5.5.

Yea people that whine about the talent around him conveniently either never saw (because they didn’t watch the games) or forgot the multitude of times receivers were running open and he had plenty of time but just threw a stinker of a pass. Occasionally a receiver would make a miraculous adjustment and catch, but not often.

the talent and scheme didn't match his style of play.

but yeah, he was also a rookie that didn't make throws sometimes that were there.

2 things can be true.

Measuring last season MUST take into account that Young had no pocket to step up and pass.  If once is going to talk about footwork of a quarterback, one must first address the oline.

Does said QB have a decent line. No.

Does said QB have clean pockets to step up into when passing. Again, No.

When a QB is running for his life. his footwork, which is 💯 tied to accuracy,  is going to crumble. Just ask P. Manning.  Cam, ....any QB to EVER PLAY THE GAME!

Bruce's football career is based on his accuracy.   It's one of his elite traits.

So, let's, I don't know, see how he is behind a competent oline, with competent receivers.

This fan base is so incredibly stubborn with this kid. They refuse to be unbiased at all.

It dawned on me this morning.... that we have a fan base that can't make up it's mind whether they want to be winners or lovers.

Y'all say ya want to be winners, but ya don't act like it.

Beening a fan since before the first game every played by the Panther, I know this fan base lobes us being then underdog.  "We play better as the underdog." Which in of itself is a loser mentality.  No competitor ever wants to constantly be considered the underdog.  Just ask Steve Smith.

This season, this team is literally the ultimate underdog.  Let by a QB that fits the underdog role PERFECTLY.

This fan base should be going hog wild about being an underdog in EVERY GAME we're scheduled to play this season.

Yet, they have already labeled this seasonnas another lost season.  Which it.may end up being, but who the fug really wants that? Seriously???

I personally, want to see our team thrive. I want them to take it to the NFL. I want to see these guys, Bryce included, to step up and show the NFL that not only do they belong,  but they're bringing the fight to the other teams.

Enough of this lover mentality.

Enough with crying over not having the QB we all wish we had (whomever that may be).

The "I'm a better fan" card is getting really old and only serves to pour fuel on these discussions and people who choose to engage in this should reconsider their position or consider whether it is everyone else that is the problem or themselves.

Anywho. The same vehement defenses of Bryce Young were also made on behalf of Kyle Allen Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold.

Nobody here knows what's going to happen. Nobody here is better than anyone else either. Why? Because no matter what our individual day to day thoughts on the team may be. We are still here.

true underdog mentality is that everyone else is wrong....and you actually have the ability to shut people up.  Hard to embrace that, if you don't actually believe that.

I don't view as underdogs presently.  I view us as lacking the talent we need to compete.  It's a QB driven league.  And we mortgaged our future on a unique QB.....who we are just inserting into standard offenses he isn't going to fit.

Where did I say that, Franke?

You're assuming I care about winning or losing an argument on this place? Or anywhere on the internet?

Time to grow up.

And uh Bryce isn't the underdog.. He's been given the best coaching and been on the best teams at every level since he was 8 years old, and he was drafted #1 overall. That is the opposite of underdog. Despite the tough year he didn't exactly pull a Rocky in the off season and train his ass off either. I don't understand how these people don't see how that is hard to root for

yeah, Cam Newton and Jake Delhomme had the underdog card/vibe.  Not Bryce.  Hate to bring up his name again but he is more of the Clausen mold/path.

None of that matters when your QB can't throw it more than 5 yards down the field

What excuses will you use this season ?

Did use any excuses we plainly sucked. How many dropped balls did he put into the receivers hands last year. He had had his shares of throw aways, but it seems his catchers couldn't catch either.

Bryce is no underdog.

Also, considering your position on our young QB of 2012/2013, I don’t know if you’re the right one to call out the fanbase for anything; let alone it’s stubbornness or being quick to give up on a young QB.
