Hoover: Panthers in 'opportunity to fail'

Agreed.

He is unemployed and is bitter about it. However, I do think this one was a financial move. You invested a high pick in the best FB in the draft. You have to get those guys on the field. Hoover has struggled with injuries the past two years....including his back.

Of course it was a financial move Hoover was extremely overpaid and he NEEDED to be cut. I never liked him,he is a very whiny person. Its not about playing better than Hoover its about being comparable at a third of the price, its about being efficient. Cutting Hoover is a great move. As said, they probably offered him a more than fair contract for what he was worth considering his history and age.

I really hope you're kidding. He was making just above league minimum.

Its not what he's making...like I said its about value. He was overpaid IMO. Hows that...

I can say I would be pissed as he was he only had one year left and then he was going to retire. I guess they don't like him as much as Delhomme, too bad.

I understand he was a long time panther guys, but cut the emotional bullshit already.

The NFL is a business...

If any of the other 31 teams think Hoover still has gas left in the tank, then they will sign him...

Sure, it sucks that Hoover was somewhat a local guy and all that jazz, but now he's just causing more problems than he should... It is pointless to question a team's direction just because you might not be a part of their plans... He's lowering himself to the equivalent of a fan at this point...

The guy has blocked for 1000 yrd rushers year after year. He has been a rock on the roster until recently and NEVER had much bad to say until recently. I am totally at a loss for words.

Yes mick eye, your right, he didn't have much to say... on TV...but that's all I am going to say about that. It's obvious you guys can't step out of the realm of emotional attachment to players.

It's going to be hell around here when Smitty thinks he still has it and is no longer worth his value. Hopefully (and most likely) it won't be too soon...
