Far be it from you to dunk on others regarding their opinion of our QB lmao.

I think you and some others have a pretty clear inferiority complex over Bryce Young. People did the same thing with Kyle Allen and Teddy Bridgewater.

If that's your path that's cool. Won't make him a better QB any more than the criticism that you rail against will. None of us are better than the other. We're just spectators. But your objections don't change the reality at hand regarding how bad he played last season. Most people want to see improvement and to see him emerge worthy of the first overall selection.

There were some. There were legitimately some. I remember one or two posters in particular that shat on CMC the entire rookie campaign and said Kamara was the better RB and CMC couldn't make people miss, "Couldn't juke or even hurdle" anyone, and a few other thinly veiled skin related criticisms.

They don't talk much on here anymore.

maybe so.  I don't remember actual bust talk.  That would have been silly.  I mean, there were areas he needed improve on and he basically figured all that out after 1 year and immediately solved those issues.   I don't love a CMC comparison here though.

my personal stance on Bryce hasn't changed much.... fixing Bryce has little to do with Bryce....it has to do with the scheme and O he plays in.   It has to suit him and have the weapons.   I think Carolina was a bad spot for him and I still largely feel that way.   The org is just treating him like some textbook QB that can insert into what others have been doing.  Bryce is sort of a unicorn.  You got to be all in on unicorns.  Not fixated on getting them to do what you do.

everyone before rookie season: we need to let him develop. give him a few years. qb's are too rushed to produce now.

you after 16 games: he's a bust.

Me before his rookie season: "Good God, that was an awful Draft pick. He'd better hit the ground running as the 'most pro ready QB' as he has zero development in him".

And here we are.

I think you have a misunderstanding of my position. It doesn't bother me at all to say Bryce played like dogshit last season, because it's true. However, I am willing to let this season play out before I'm ready to say that he can't make it in the NFL. I agree with your take that we'll know better after the first couple of preseason games what we're in for this season.

My response was just in amusement at how you came in here holier than thou about others derailing threads by dunking on others' QB opinions, when you're pretty well known for taking exception to any opinion on Bryce that offers any optimism at all.

I mean, CMC had almost 1100 total yards and 7 TDs his rookie season.  I don't recall people calling him a bust but there was criticism he needed to bulk up and change for the NFL and of course the should you really draft a RB that high talk given what you can get elsewhere.

and he spent the offseason putting on tons of muscle and getting jacked.   Which was basically the talk of the board as camp approached.  And that 1100 season was then followed by an almost 2k season.

what did Bryce do? Watched Netflix and you tube....per Bryce.  So it's hard to really think we will see a CMC uptick in year 2 when our QB took the offseason off of football.

Cmon dude... you've been a moderator for years...

You really don't remember the discourse around here in 2017??  CMC was hated by many, many people.  Especially after the season Kamara had.

Anyone who doesn't seem massive parallels between that CMC/Kamara debate vs. the BY/CJS debate is lying or misremembering IMHO.

And to your 2nd point, Bryce doesn't deserve another season?  So, the book wasn't written on CMC after 1 season, but it is on Bryce?

My avatar is of Cam and will always be.  No one will ever take his place for me, but it's insane the number of people activity rooting against this team (and then talking trash to those of us supporting them).

Man, I'll take my next month hiatus from this place, but I'm simply astonished at the revisionist history.

I miss being able to have even remotely objective discussions on this board.  People getting dragged by trolls every single time they try to post anything is exhausting...

BTW @CRA, appreciate the warning.  I'll see myself out, just like SCP and all the other posters worth a crap who got tired of this cesspool always favoring the poo-slingers...

This board allows clowns to troll all day long anyone trying to have reasonable discourse with zero repercussion, but if you push back against this depressing and inane s-show and all the nonsense takes, then it's no good...

I mean you're seemingly egging on someone that's about to get the first OTA thread of the year sent to the tinderbox because he's so personally upset someone said something about Bryce Young he doesn't like. At the end of the day it's on Bryce to quiet the doubts. He's got 38 million reasons to do so.

I'm glad we are in general agreement about the outlook for the upcoming season.

As far as my position on Bryce. I was pretty plain about my preference being CJ Stroud predraft. There were several posters here at that time who made it their mission to attack and spam poo emojis on anything perceived to be critical of Bryce Young. I was on board and in support once he was the pick. I said all along I was going to give him the season to show performance worthy of where he was selected. To say the absolute least that did not happen unfortunately.

I think you are misrepresenting and assigning your own interpretation to the "optimism" about Bryce Young that you claim I take exception to. Optimism is one thing. Fantasy is another. And fantasy is what some of the talk has amounted to.

In this very thread the first day of OTA he's been compared to Christian McCaffrey for whatever reason.

That's not optimism that's homerism and again we've been doing this for different QB's the last several years. What's the definition of insanity? At some point you just need to see real quantifiable results first. We're all waiting. Hopefully it happens.

I said I don't remember bust talk.  I remember other talk about his size in this league, value of the position, etc.  Maybe people called him a bust.  That's just not what I remember.

CMC had a 1100 total yard rookie season...on a team that featured Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart in the backfield (CMC backed up Stew).   So yeah, I just don't buy CMC as basically Bryce Young in some comparison there.  That's just me.

I mean, your warning was simply not to do specific political ranting in the Carolina Panthers section.  And you know you can't do that in this section.    And I frankly, only warned you because I made the post disappear.  That's isn't generally your style.  It's not that serious.

I will say I'm proud to have made it 19 years and never have received a warning before now.

Goes to show you where this board is currently at...

Measured takes by long-time Panthers fans with actual perspective... Absolutely Not!!

Hot-Takes by Literal Clowns... By All Means, Yes!!

I've always liked you CRA and appreciated your takes, but the moderation on this board makes no sense to me.

Regardless, I do appreciate that you're willing to remain and wade through this cesspool... it's not a job I would want... I guess Jeremy decided this place was hopeless...

I do hope once this franchise turns around, so can this board.  And I realize being the moderator for a message board for a team like the Panthers that has been godawful for years can't be easy...

Hopefully (for all of us), things will turn around, and you will get to be the moderator for a board that means something again.

2015 was insane with the amount of non-Panthers fans coming here to try to talk poo... it's hard to overstate how fun this board was... Now, it's just our own "fans" attacking anyone who dares not be overwhelmingly negative...

If this isn't the nadir both for this franchise and CH, I hate to see how much further the abyss can go...

My expectations are very low for XL this year. He is a rookie and traditionally we don't develop rookie WR fast. I fully expect it to be the Dionte Johnson show this year with flashes of AT. I think somebody nobody expected will come out of nowhere and grab some limelight too. Marshall? Mingo? UDFA? who knows.

How can we tie past, quote unquote, tradition, from the previous coaching regime to the new coaching regime? The owner and the GM aren't coaching the players...

Hey Seltzer. We've got 17 games worth of opposing fans ridiculing us and talking cold hard poo about Bryce Young coming up. You might want to develop some thicker skin if you're going to be rooting for this team because things said here by our own fans are fairly tame compared to what the rest of the league has in store for us after what we gave up in that trade last year. Maybe try and pace yourself bud.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
