Worst divisional matchup in primetime?

IMO, the Chargers ain't all that. They're just from a bigger market.

GO PANTHERS !!

Worse yet...SD has trouble selling out their stadium IIRC even though they have had a very competitive team for the past 4-5 years.

Fact remains, Cats are a bunch of "no stars" along with being a small market team. Sure they have Smitty and Pep, but they aren't as high profile as other stars. Fine with me, I just wanna watch the game! :P

Because no one outside of Arizona and the Carolinas cares about our game. I didn't say I liked it, but it's the truth.

If I were a fan with no horse in the race I'd be much more interested in the other games.

The reason why this thinking pisses me off is the same reason nobody thought our Super Bowl was going to be any good and it ended up one of the best SB's ever....so I guess people don't learn. I don't think it's unreasonable for both teams to be miffed at this kinda thinking. Last time I checked all playoff teams are good and worthy of their spots. This isn't a Detroit/Cincy regular season game.

It shouldn't piss you off, it shouldn't matter at all. Just enjoy the local buzz. I bet it doesn't really matter to either team right now (at least I hope our players aren't that shallow), all they want is a ring.

Trust me I'm enjoying it...and it doesn't really bother me (not losing sleep over it) but I don't think that idiot has any reason to say what he did....but oh well.

Honestly what did he say that wasn't true, or that you find insulting

Here it is again with coments

Of the four divisional playoff games this weekend, the Arizona Cardinals-Carolina Panthers match-up is easily the least enticing. True

The Cardinals stumbled to the title in the NFL's weakest division, True

while Carolina is a talented team without a lot of national hype. True

With three other games that pit fierce division rivals (Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants), two stout defenses (Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans) and teams playing a rematch of the game with the most thrilling ending of the year (San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers), why is the NFL subjecting us to the Cards-Panthers in Saturday primetime? True

There is nothing at all derogatory about the Panthers in this (actually gives them props)... All the writer is saying is the Cardinals don't excite anyone with their recent play and the game shouldn't be close. I think it'll be a good game, but the Cat's are supposed to cover by 9.5, and the other matchups on paper look like better games.

Let me end this

1. Game and time was already set

2. Its a playoff game

3. Not only just a playoff game, but whoever wins goes to the Championship, then on to the Superbowl

4. Ari is a entertaining team, high offense

5. We've gain a little national press after our games with Tampa bay, and New York Giants

You can have your opinion about the matchup and game itself. But asking why its televised prime time is just dumb

the decision to have the 2 seed in the NFC play on Saturday night was made prior to the season if i'm not mistaken, when dates were decided on for all the games. i often wonder if sportswriters understand how the NFL scheduling works at all. Recently I've seen things like "[insert team's] 2009 schedule announced". it wasn't announced, once the last game ends in week 17, you know exactly who you're playing the next year. and apart from two teams, you knew the schedule a year ago, two years ago. i can tell you who the panthers play every season for the next 10 years, apart from 2 teams a season that are the ones that finished the same place in you in the 2 conference divisions you're not on rotation with. but they still post it like it's some big revelation ..

i've had to fight all year not to think ahead about playing both the AFC and NFC east next year ... gonna be tough.

Folks...haven't the Panthers demonstrated that when they are in the spotlight they end up in barnburner games???

How about their SB appearance?

The recent game against the Giants?

Even the blow out game against the Bucs was exciting to watch.

They don't call them the Cardiac Cats for nothing..........and the networks know this....................

That's why they are prime time..........

I'm from Pittsburgh and many of my friends back home love the Panthers......they say it is fun to watch this team.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
