You can get Warcraft III Battlechest (frozen throne is the expansion) for 19.95, and it comes with frozen throne and two other expansions I think for a nice complete package.

It probably wouldn't hurt to mix and match RTS and TB a bit either. I dunno if you'd want to go with Warcraft or Starcraft tho. He's gonna get his ass kicked by koreans all day long on either one, if he wants to play online.

if turn based is his thing go for Civ4 if he want real time the best IMO is company of heros.

u should think about upgrading his ram and video card also if he wants to play some better games..

On a 4 year old PC? That's probably some ddr2 ram or something that would have to be ordered off tigerdirect and newegg. And then there's power consumption issues. Probably only has a 300w power supply at most, and would be fortunate if he had that.

But...if he can find out what your power supply on that PC, and its 300w, he can go get a bad 512mb vid card at best buy for around 40 bucks.

Or save 5 bucks ordering it off newegg and wait 2 weeks for it to get there.

But I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make, considering the end game load on large maps with these kind of games.

I thought WalMart or Best Buy had them for 19 bucks, but it might actually be $29.99. Pretty sure I saw them not long ago at one or both, but I haven't bought a non-steam game in a year and a half. :|

I have the whole WCIII battle chest w/ codes and I'd sell it to you haha. My friend wanted me to get it bad to play Dota online, but it's just not my type of game, I've barely even touched it.

Though, does anyone know if you can use the codes more than once?
