ESPN: ''Team X'' after McNabb

I doubt Moore would even consider himself "in place". I think he knows he's going to have to compete with somebody for the starting job with a yet to be identified person. When you have a QB "in place", it sounds to me like the whole team and the guy himself knows he's the starter heading into the season. That's not the case with Moore. I would think along the lines of Seattle, St. Louis, Jacksonville, or perhaps even Washington.

Moore: I feel like this is my team now

Matt Moore believes he’ll be the starting quarterback this coming season for the Carolina Panthers regardless of who the team brings in.

“From what they are telling me, yeah, I do feel like it’s my team now,” Moore said in an interview Friday with Carolina Growl.

...

Moore said he realizes the Panthers are likely to add at least one more quarterback through the NFL draft and perhaps another in free agency. But he has no idea who that might be.

Nor does he seem concerned. That, after all, would simply be wasted time. His focus is on getting better.

“I feel good right now regardless of whom they bring in,” Moore said. “That’s not to say there won’t be competition. There’s always competition. But I feel good and feel solid and being given this opportunity I’m going to try to make the best of it. But am I threatened? Not really.”

Miami was actually the first thing that came to mind.

Possible. I was thinking Cleveland or Arizona.

Jags, Niners and Lions could make some sense.

And of course, there's the Vikes. They arguably make the most sense (especially system wise) depending on what Favre does.

I didn't realize how many teams were looking for a QB, actually.

I guess I've been ignoring it considering the Panthers concerns at QB the past few months.

They have already said Moore is the guy. Fox has even confirmed that....and Fox always avoids saying anything. This year isn't a competition and everyone in Carolina knows it is Moore's gig.

I left out the Chiefs. They would actually make a fair amount of sense too.

The teams with the most obvious QB needs are the Rams, Bills and Raiders. All of them are somewhat known (though the Rams have denied it). The Seahawks were said to be pursuing him but it was later said that it was Kolb they really wanted.

If I had to lay a bet on "Team X", I'd probably settle on either the Vikes or the Chiefs.

They've already openly expressed interest(in fact, offered Asomugha for McNabb straight up).

and Eagles would never trade to Redskins since they're in the same division. Jags, Seattle(although unlikely as they just gave up a lot for a QB), or possibly Arizona.

If Oakland trades a young, shutdown corner in his prime for an aging, stop-gap solution at QB, they deserve the 5+ more years of mediocrity that will surely follow.

On the other hand, I have the Eagles D in my keeper league, and Asumogha and Samuel would be fun to watch.

The Chiefs have a pretty expensive QB in Cassell. As long as we are betting i would like to double down that team "X" is either The Vikings or 49er's. McNabb does not want to go to a crappy team.

Gun to my head, I'd say the Vikings.

With that said, Cassel is badly overpaid for his ability, and an uncapped year is a good time to dump an overpaid, underachieving QB, right?

The rumored trade was actually McNabb and Samuel for Asomugha, though an "unnamed source" later denied it.

Let me put it this way...

We didn't cut a longtime established starter who knew the system and was well-liked by teammates for the purpose of establishing a confirmed starter just to turn around and give up a high pick to get a guy who's established - but in a completely different system - thereby muddying the waters and causing the locker room dissension we cut the first guy specifically to avoid (and that's without even bringing up the age-to-contract ratio).

Clear?[/QUOTE]

Crystal.

Great post.
