On a bit of a side note: Cam obviously brought a huge amount of energy and hype on and off the field and we loved him for that, but one of his most badass moments IMO was that Giants shootout game where they had just scored and the camera panned to him off the field where he just calmly nodded his head, put on his helmet, and knew it was time to go out there and respond to win the game.  It seems like that kind of cool, calm, collected demeanor is looked down upon here in favor of the more fiery archetype.  I haven't seen evidence to suggest that there's a correlation between a player's temperament and their performance.  I think we tend to see players struggle on the field and then assign reasons for their failures largely based on assumptions combined with our own preconceived opinions on what the recipe for success entails.

It's all about balance in a way.  Guys who can lead with fire in the locker room, put their study cap on when they need to, get game-day laser focused/cool-as-a-cucumber in the pocket when the moments come, etc.  Different moments require being adaptive and perceptive to team and game needs.  It all culminates within the guys who have the "it".

Does he have it?

Not saying Bryce has or doesn't have those traits required, but from what I've observed he's rather chill on and off the field so certain personalities that can help a team will need to come from elsewhere.  It's been few and far between (but has happened) when his more vibrant and competitive self noticeably comes out of the shell.  

Nothing against him though, but having the respective Smitty, Cam or Luke type personalities can really help with culture and bringing a locker room together - and it can effect play in a good way.  But at the end of the day, that can come from the OL, QB, a star RB or WR.  Doesn't have to be QB - plenty of SB winning examples to show for.  

It would just be nice to have some real energy and excitement on this team again.  It's been a massive void for me for quite some time now, hope some dudes coming in like Dionte, XL, & Brooks can bring something in this regard too.

Young can’t benefit from any rah rah he does unless he can produce. 

No one wants to hear that from an under performer. So maybe if he can become a producer, a guy that his teammates have faith in, then you will see more. I figure he was pretty overwhelmed.

I understand why your brain translates "cool, calm, and collected" into a pejorative like "boring milquetoast" since you're genuinely the polar opposite of cool calm and collected, as someone who awkwardly escalates every innocuous statement into multi-paragraph performative rants as if someone just slapped your mother.  I assure you that well-adjusted people do not consider that to be an insult in the real world...not ass-backwards Internet Land where it's cool and trendy to be a Debbie Downer and being "too positive" is thrown around as a slur. 

I remember you bragging about taking two days away from these boards as if that was a big accomplishment for you, which was eye-opening to say the least.  I genuinely hope this is just some internet character you're playing, because the way you act on these boards would be objectively so off-putting in the real world.  I've known a couple people like this and it's always incredibly socially awkward and sucks the energy out of the room; these are the people who don't get invited out to social events. But instead of properly absorbing and learning from these social cues in person, you're being enabled by your fellow gloomy weird internet friends here which only encourages you to spend more and more of your time online to get the approval you crave.  Just some life advice, my friend...since I'm assuming you are very young.  Don't spend all of your time in here.  There's a whole world out there with real people and meaningful connections.  And despite what the internet has taught you, being pleasant is a good thing.

What this has to do with you pulling Cam Newton into this conversation because Bryce Young hasn't lived up to the hype of being the best natural leader since Peyton Manning is a mystery.

Most of us want him to meet and exceed expectations and do not want him to end up a bust. But we also don't have to compare him to Sam Mills Steve Smith Cam Newton Christian McCaffrey or other HOF quarterbacks everyday to justify optimism.

These are pretty pedestrian throws, which we saw Bryce make plenty of on Day 1.

Yep. As we saw just last year you can’t tell much from a guy throwing in shorts. Mechanics and arm strength probably.

It's literally where he shines. No rush in his face, no one to throw over and no defenders to break up those flat passes.

If the team was smart they would tone it down and let him just prove it but they are already hyping him back up. Vagas knows what's up but the rest is hype from the media machine that knows it's time to sell sunshine and that the time for thunderclouds come later. SSDY

Kind of… Vegas just plays people against each other to make money. They could care less if it’s right or not. They had Kellen Moore as the highest odds of being our head coach last year and we didn’t even interview him. At one point they had Levis as the highest chance of being our pick for like half a day. The number is usually fluid and changes based on bets made.

in terms of overall wins per team they are pretty damn accurate
