Can he throw it far? Sure. Can he do it well? No and he was so bad at it that he didn't even want to try when guys were open deep lol

 

Didnt want to throw at the combine and was missing in his Pro day workout. Just too many red flags for me.

I saw his school tape and he peaked there. He was a poor NFL prospect but he was good enough to win there. Not throwing at the combine kept him going in the first vs throwing and going in the 3rd which is where he should have gone. I can't remember a more overhyped prospect ever. It was embarrassing how bad and lazy his draft breakdowns were. He does have a great agent tho

That was Tua and he wins enough in the regular season to make much harder than what is going on I  Pantherland.

Also Tepper is weird. Rhule got a 3rd year and he absolutely did bad enough to get fired after 2. He just hired the assistant to a 2 win team and then that guys friend who didn't get another HC interview. Tepper is impatient but also unpredictable in a bad way.

One slight criticism I have is his deep balls were flat. While Stroud absolutely nailed the loft, velocity and touch on his deeper passes, it did feel a bit like Young was trying to throw as hard as possible and the ball came out without enough air and they were harder to catch.

That horse has been beaten into oblivion but man it is going to make for a hell of a story years from now how anyone passed on his arm talent (Stroud) if he goes on to have a stellar career.

As usual we end up on the receiving end of an embarrassing decision.

I think people have to understand that a good team has to be able to run and pass. In 2023 Washington passed the most at 66%, the least was Baltimore at 50%. KC is at 60%. And others are in between. Where were we last year? We were at 59%.  So you need a running game and a passing game. Which you do more is likely a function of how much success you have doing one or the other. Duh. You can say you are going to be run first but if the defense loads the box you will be throwing the ball. If they set up all day in cover 2 with safeties deep, you likely will be running the ball. You have to do both when they know what you are going to do anyway. Here are the percentages if interested.

Our run game was not as bad last year as some insinuate. That's why this newfound emphasis on the run game is being met with an eye roll from some fans.

Your run game is supposed to setup the pass. But when the defense and particularly the secondary knows your QB isn't willing to or just isn't capable of pressing the issue in certain situations with his arm your run game means nothing. It's all on the tape from 2023. That's the work our new head coach has in store for him. I hope he's got some magic.

That Pro Day and watching his footwork did him in for me. Just no way #1 in the draft worthy. We had invested so much in that trade to spend it on that? 

I came into it not having watched him live in college. Don’t watch much of it. So maybe I wasn’t influenced by his college accomplishments so much? He just looked like a real hard way to go. I can’t say I knew, but I strongly felt that we were going to see something not so great. We’ll see what that lipstick we've been applying to the offense can do. He should look better.

If Young doesn’t look 180 degrees turned around, and depending on Williams’ season... the potential for all time level idiocy, futility, all that stuff...  is high.
