Charlotte Observer: Official newspaper of the New Orleans Hornets

mj4life the Observer is always gonna count on the fact that we werent here and dont really know what happened. They will always look to "revise" history to portray Shinn as a misunderstood "martyr" and the Hornets as the "beloved NBA franchise that we sorely miss". That article just shows how far the Observer will go to apologize for one of their own and how there is no statue of limitations on how long they can promote & sponsor an NBA team in another market.

The article's main point is that if the Bobcats and their ownership group want to be successfull (or get positive press from the Observer), they need to be more like the Hornets and their owner. Which is laughable because anyone who knows about Shinn and how he came into power knows he isnt 1/10th the businessman that Robert L. Johnson is. It isnt even debatable. LOL. Shinn & the Hornets are family to the Observer, and no matter what, they're gonna ride and promote family over whats best for Charlotte right now.

its also worth saying that the "love affair" with hornets had worn off long before shinn's legal problems. trading alonzo and every other star when it was time for them to get paid hurt, something else that gets overlooked is most of the players in the nba during the early years were "likable" clean cut guys for the most part but when the tatt wearing, corn row sporting, baggy short wearing players started to appear more it turned alot of the "casual" fan base off. even if the hornets were still here i don't think attendance would be that much better unless they had a "star" player people want to see or a really good team

Instead of an article pumping people up for the BOBCATS upcoming playoff, we get NOLA HORNETS revisionist fluff and folklore. Instead of articles highlighting a Bobcats player we get "Ex-Bobcats owner blasts Charlotte" on their homepage for 2 months. Why not an article on DJ Augustin or perhaps Tyrus Thomas in that spot instead? Maybe a story on Boris life growing up in France, sh*t anything!!! Let us know about these guys and their backgrounds. We want personal stories on the players too!!! We want to see their human side too! They could even post big ass picture inserts of the featured player in the newspaper like they used to do their buddy Shinn's team back in the day. Instead we get politics and bullsh*t and NOLA Hornets promos.

Guys, the worst thing Shinn ever did was demanding a new arena!

And we were like totally hot and sexy those 2 years we had Zo and LJ!

the worst thing shinn ever did was end up on court tv,even though we had issues i loved the hornets, just think it's not possible to recreate what they had those first 10 years. the only problem i ever had with shinn is he went the cheap route most of the time and just got tired of his demands. but i still went to the games

Zo didn't want to play for Shinn because he was a retarded ass.

i now the common way most think it went down but as i remeber i think it came down to shinn not being able to pay both he and granmama but i could be wrong. don't think zo had a problem with the city per se
