Charlotte Observer: Official newspaper of the New Orleans Hornets

Move over Times-Picayune, the NOLA Hornets have another offical newspaper for their basketball team, The Charlotte Observer. For 20 years the Charlotte Observer has worked dilligently and hard to help market the Hornets franchise. Even when the team moved away 8 years ago, the staff at the Observer never forgot the friendships and times they spent with the Shinn family and their organization. Today, Scott Fowler, award winning writer has posted a fabolous article on the NOLA Hornets in today's Observer.

Charlotte sports for the longest has been about putting Chapel Hill and Durham before Meck County, now I think its even cooler that New Orleans is also in the mix. Shinn has to love the free publicity our newspaper still gives his organization and how much they romanticize it. It has to be comforting to know then even when our local team the Bobcats does something positive, a Hornets reference will soon follow. Maybe just maybe, the good ole boy will come back "home" one day and save us from those evil Bobcats. Thanks Observer!

wah wah, same ole stuff. The article was 75 percent bobcats...and the only references to the hornets was in regard to the last time charlotte hosted a playoff series and the history behind it. For hating the paper so much, you sure do read it a lot and give it plenty of clought by clamoring on so much over the writers and founder. everyone is pumped for the cats chasing the playoffs, your the only one bitc*in over the other things. Don't give it credence by posting lame stuff like this. If anything, the article sounds like a bored Carolina fan giving the cats some love on an off day.

Doesnt feel so good when your neighbor uses headlines to slam your business does it? Imagine dealing with it for 6 years even though your busting your ass to bring the neighborhood up?

The Observer is behind the New Orleans Hornets and their legacy, the people of Charlotte just want to know are they behind the Bobcats and theirs? The Observer needs to win over this community and prove they can support this franchise, because they never really have and take too many backhanded shots at this organization. They've betrayed the trust and the paper needs to try to win that back if it aims to stay in business and quit laying so many people off every quarter.

Wow. You're serious aren't you? Did you even read the article? You have hit a whole new level of annoying. There was one paragraph about the Hornets in that whole article and it didn't give them props. He said he is excited about the playoffs and we haven't had that since the Hornets. Did i miss something? Did we have a NBA team take us to the playoffs since the Hornets? That article was all about giving the Bobcats props and how it's generating excitement among Charlotte fans. Which we haven't had since the Hornets. Even your game day threads are filled with this garbage now. Let Radiokiller do game days, his are much better and i don't have to hear about how everyones racist, the name change, and Bob. Just Bobcats basketball. Quit being a bitch and enjoy what the Bobcats are doing right now.

They should at least stop reporting on the craptastic Hornets.

They cant, their editors require if they say anything positive about the Bobcats they have to plug the New Orleans Hornets. 20 years from now they will still be reminding us of the Hornets. Family always looks out for each other and the New Orleans Hornets and the Observer staff writers are very much family. Charlotteans are dying for a newspaper that will cover their Bobcats and not one that covers a sports team 5 states away.

Well at least they do report on the Bobcats also.

And they are getting favorable reporting all over the nation!

Do you work for the Observer? You sound pretty pissed off. If we could get people like yourself more pissed off about the GARBAGE the Observer spews for profit, we'd have a better atmosphere. Instead you sit by and say nothing, giving quiet support and credence to their crap. Im not suprised you would angrily defend them and their Hornets lovefest. This is not the first nor the last time the Observer has used the Bobcats prosperity to promote the New Orleans Hornets. This is the same paper that said not even 2 weeks ago, "Bob Johnson makes us long for Shinn again". Family always looks out for each other. ;)

This forum covers the Bobcats better than the Observer does. We consistenly break news and stories before them. There's another Bobcats forum created solely due to the pisspoor coverage the Observer has given them since they've been in business. The Observer's problem is its boxed itself into a corner. For 6 years they marketed themselves as anti-Bobcats and the voice of Charlotteans who resent NBA basketball and the Bobcats. Now that the "in thing" is to support the Bobcats, they're left out in the cold and have to create stories "name change", "Michael Jordan wasnt in his owners seat tonight" to get blog hits. They've got their work cut out for them if they plan to stay in business much longer and regain the trust of the public they've lost.

An angry Charlotte Observer employee. Sorenson? Fowler? Bonnell? Is that you? How much Shinn been paying you the past 5 years to suck off his basketball team? You'd think the Hornets brought a title to Charlotte and we had a parade on Tryon Street with the way yall speak of them. Family always looks out for each other in this town. Enjoy covering our playoff run bitches!

You really are a sad little bitch. You're saying they promote the Hornets only because the name was mentioned in the article. Well you just started a whole thread for the Hornets. Good job Hornet lover. Why don't you go over the NOLA Hornets message board and spew your garbage. Im in the digital printing business btw so you can quit making things up and i know it's real hard for you not to make things up Queen.

    • We needed the room, be prepared for a lot of deck clearing over the coming weeks. Trade deadline has passed but releases can happen for folks we decide won't be needed for the rebuild.
    • I don't see the Wallace speed ratings on the field. Not once have my eyes been drawn to him from any suddenness or explosiveness. Kind of like looking for a flash out of Bryce Young last year. I am aware that he is a rookie and his recognition and processing will be slower but if you don't close ground once you have finished recognizing and processing I worry about it. Now this, I think, disregards the new offensive staff's experience with WRs and their influence on who gets added. It isn't the old staff people and they are the offensive deciders, Morgan shouldn't be exerting his will over people whose focus has always been offensive football, and I don't think he will try to do that.  We'll see, but the two we added this year don't look like busts.
    • Not comparing the players just the use of analytics which has been and remains a key part of the structure of our approach in the draft since David Tepper became owner. All I'm saying is going forward we just don't know if this team will stop drafting Jonathan Mingo type prospects because the scouts are largely the same and the approach largely remains the same. Morgan has said he seeks players with a certain mentality (I refuse to type the phrase because this team has gotten taken to the woodshed too many times this season so it falls on deaf ears now) that's really the only key difference I can see as of right now. Next years draft will tell us what we need to know.
