Moton has been playing great and is our best OL in a solid group. Depending on the numbers an extension could be a win/win. I hate to let a talented OL walk for nothing.
I feel like the cap akways looks good 2 years out. Then we shuffle our roster and it looks rough in the immediate future.

he has been playing fine, pff has him at 69 and that really doesnt justify 30+ million per, reworking it or extending him just eats up the cap down the road and he is getting older.  I like him but a good RT shouldnt be that hard to find in the draft, we need to keep getting younger everywhere it looks like

His contract looks like a team friendly as they can pretty much cut him with little dead cap and would be saving quite a bit.  But they will be without a qb.  Lots of football left for sure but taking on an expensive 35 year old qb would be very panthery.

They just traded for Sam Howell and now they get a nice close look at him.  I could also see their new HC wanted to draft one to develop while he keeps upgrading his defense which is his bread and butter.  I'm just throwing out ideas.  People were wanting to extend Dalton a couple games ago and he is even older.  A nice 3 year deal for a 35 year old proven QB isn't terrible.  It gives us another couple years to find one to learn behind him (I'm think the 26 class might have some good ones).  It also lets us use our early draft picks to try to inject some talent in this defense.

Some people won’t like this, but Trey Lance is a FA who will be cheap and is only 24. Maybe sign him as a project QB behind a vet/bridge QB and see what Canales can get out of him? Just throwing out another option and we can just go BPA in the draft

Heck, I'd give it a shot.  The dude has everything you want but the in-game experience (reps) and understanding for the game at the pro level.  The first I think has created the deficiency in the second.  If he can stay healthy had get the pro game to click between the ears, the dude could be a stud.

Zach Wilson is another one. He struggled with the Jets but so did Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, and now Aaron Rodgers…. He has the arm talent that DC likes.

Cam Ward is easily QB1, IMO. I’m not sure that it makes sense for this team to take a QB with the way the roster looks, but by the same token hitting on a QB can really accelerate the rest of the roster quite well.

Shedeur can sling it, but I have major concerns about his leadership and personality from some of the stuff I’ve seen, but he’s a young kid so maybe getting out from under his dad would help him in hat regard.

You would have a decent OL to put him behind (maybe extend BC for center if he keeps look good), a new RB in Brooks, a young group of weapons in XL, Coker, and JT to grow with him.  Our defense will still on on life support but DB coming back will help a little.  The offense isn't the worst to plug a young QB in though.

I would agree with all of that. Would not be the worst thing in the world to get a high pick in 2026 with a promising QB because our defense gave up too many points, either.

Want to see him continue this run, but I’m starting to come around on the idea that Cam Ward is a Joe Burrow/Jayden Daniels kind of player that can completely change a franchise.

this is the #1 guy i want to sign for a clipboard role or flier as a starter. if he hits great if not, it doesnt matter. but the talent and arm are there. idk if it ever clicks but its the size/age/arm you drool over.  lance i worry more about with the system he was in is really QB friendly but again, i always thought he was a huge project. again all the tools you could ever want. add lock into that talk too, but lesser degree. fields i could see being a guy that if he keeps working is dynamite later as a passer but always a disappointment cause he was sooooooooo hyped in college/HS.

Fields, Wilson, Lance, then Lock, in that order. get 1 minimum. hell i'd go for 2 and a rookie and let them all battle it out. if 1 of the 3 pans out, the $ of all three is still lower than a top guy gets anyways. if none do, cut bait when the contracts end in 3 years or the weakest link quickly and try again.

hate we draft meh talent other than Cam or Collins way back when.

I'm firmly on the Cam Ward bandwagon. He's going to be a stud in the NFL.

I watched him play for the first time against FSU and completely agree. He’s elusive and has a cannon and he’s not 5’7”. I hope we lose the rest of our games (which should be no problem) so we can take him at 1 and finally start ending this nightmare.

I think I would still take Shedeur first. But because his dad likely won't let him play here i might have to settle for Ward.

Can we all agree given were we might be drafting that Sanders/Ward should be the only QBs in consideration?

I would be much more comfortable signing Winston or Fields then reaching on any other QBs in this class tbh.

100% and I think Sanders should be considered first unless his dad shuts it down, which again I don't think will ultimately happen.

    • Not a good year to need to spend a 1st on WR considering the generational class last year, imo. Now if the board shakes out and BPA == WR... well... gotta do what they gotta do.
    • HELLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOO Lockett turns 33 a month into the season, there is no circumstance where we should be giving up draft assets for him given that alone, we need guys Bryce can grow with if he's going to be our future at QB, and if not, we need guys who will be around for whoever replaces him. Deebo is 29, only has 1 year left on his deal and in reality, just isn't a #1 WR (he only has 1 season ove4r 900 yards receiving), he's a gadget guy who can do a lot of things.  Giving up draft picks for that type of player and then needing to give them a new deal as they enter their 30 year old season. If we were to target a WR through trade this offseason, DK Metcalf would be the player I'd go after in a vacuum.  The real problem with that is DK is basically the player we want XL to turn into, just seems like a poor allocation of resources to go after a similar, albeit much better, style of player.   I wouldn't be against giving Philly a call about AJ Brown, as they don't exactly have the most harmonious relationship there, but I don't think they move him in the end no matter how next weekend goes. As I've said numerous times, T-Mac is about our only realistic option for adding a true #1 WR this offseason, if he doesn't fall to us or we don't take him if he does, that's a role/position that won't be filled until next offseason (and no, this isn't another post to say we need to take him, just pointing out the facts that there just likely won't be #1 WRs available to us given our cap/roster abilities this offseason.
    • It's very easy to figure out why this Panthers team has expansion level talent, look at the last 5 drafts               4th round RB that some fraud coachs' wife had the idea to draft is the best player in the last 5 years...... Fitterererererr was herniay without the 1st round gold, failed just as bad in Free agency ( minus on luvu...)   I've been complaining for the past couple years that Panthers need to fire any or all scouts, cause the facts are they are the worse group in the league.
