I couldn't agree more. This draft might end up with a different outcome, but the process feels like deja vu all over again.

The difference is that Fitterers trades would hurt our future, while Morgan got a 2025 2nd for basically 2 5ths

I’ve seen other places that had him as a top 75 player and the potential to be an elite nfl lb

That guy’s ranking must have been old. Everything I found after we made the pick says day two guy or specifically third round. We took him where his value was.

After sleeping on it, one thing came to mind that I do like about this draft so far is that these picks are not win now picks. It feels like the GM/Coach in Carolina has been trying to keep their jobs for so long that they have drafted and signed players without a longer vision.  First it was Hurney and Rivera, then Rhule then Fitt then Reich.

All of these picks have greater value after 2024. They can and will contribute this season but immediate returns aren’t needed to satisfy the owner and save the job of the GM/Coach.

They do seem to be all about lowering expectations for the season.  Which might be great for the coaching staff to be employed more than 3 months. However, its not very exciting as a fan. I wasn't expecting to go to the Superbowl but "hey guys, we're just gonna be bad again this year but wait until 2025" approach kinda sucks.

Until the product on the field shows us something, hes just Fitt 2.0.

This is where I'm at. I'm not impressed with this for the sake of the trades or the players we got.

The Legette pick makes sense but I didnt agree with a RB in R2 or a developmental LB in R3. I don't see how that's too different from a Hurney or Fitterer draft pick wise.  And both of them also could hit on first rounders as well.

Without the injury, he is a day 1 starter.  Not sure we can actually consider him that now.

there was a study on NFL guys and ACLs. Average time to return to field was 49.7 weeks.   He tore his knee mid November.  Over half the guys, 56%, re-injured the knee within 10 weeks of returning.

I mean, everyone is different.  No way to know.  People are always going to talk optimistic.  Especially in a draft scenario.

Do we really want to bring him along on the quick side of things?  I think Carolina should take the cautious side.

Its a wild risk for a team that just won 2 games.  Especially trading up to get him.  So with his 4 year deal we seem to be punting on 1 of the 4.  I mean thats fine I guess as long as it works out, but again we traded up and drafted a running back with a blown acl in the 2nd round.  When you say that out loud and put it in context with this franchise that doesnt sound very good.

we got a very raw wr with potential, a hurt rb and a raw lb with potential.  I think they are telling you all you need to know, I can see both sides of this argument

That's great and all but they seem to be picking the same "diamond in the rough " guys that Fitt got run out of town  for.

Trade back trade back trade back. We had real 1st round talent at 39 and blew it. Needed a CB terribly bad. Had Kool Aid and Cooper.  Went with an injury prone RB. And before the Looney Tunes on this board start saying that he’s the best back in the draft you’re the same people that also said they didn’t draft Peyton Wilson because of his ACL injuries.

That's what I'm thinking. You could have easily gotten a good RB much later and same thing if you wanted a project LB.

I personally wouldn't have traded jack poo, and went BPA. My dream senario was JPJ and Payton Wilson. Even Ig they were afraid of Wilson's medical R3 was a really good spot for another proven LB like Trotter or Cedric Gray or an edge like Trice or Ellis.

Cedric Gray woulda been slam dunk pink at the top of R4 today if we picked a solid edge rusher like Trice or Ellis in R3

It's so bad and it's hilarious. This team looks like it wants to never win. 'It's so new' and yet it's just another way of doing the same crap. Ignore injuries, build around past mistakes making new mistakes to justify it, poorly valued projects (at this point just admit they don't see it as much of a project as reality does) and then just flat out bad hiring (process and people). I think a Madden sim would do a better job after years of this and yet people still find hope to burn. Morgan is SSDD for Tepper in the end.

I just fuging hate how they're always banking on upside instead of just straight up production. That's a huge reason why our drafts have Been so shitty for years. Either Morgan or the scouts that are still there have had a big impact on this.

This isn’t a Dave and Nicole Draft!!!!
this isn’t a limp Rhule / Reich draft

this guy is in total control of the Panthers draft. Working the board to go up, working the board to go back, getting value

i have to see of our recent GMs (Hurney, Fitt, Gettleman) he seems to be BEASTING the draft

I said this on another thread, this seems like a Morgan and Canales draft unlike the last few years which seemed like Rhule and Tepper. Or last year which seemed like Tepper playing GM.

Yep.  Fitterer might of left….but it’s hard not to argue that the same essential folks are just continuing on as it was.

No one knows how this will pan out. Many say this guy was the best back in the draft and that Lagette is a freak of nature. Panthers got two guys at the top of their board. That’s all you can do.

you were likely praising the trade up for 5’9 185 lb Frat Bro Young last year.
